Top Law Schools

I sent my app in a few days ago and already I am in review. Very fast, don't know what this could mean, but anyone else in Review? Complete? Decision? How long did it take from being in review to having a decision rendered?

I've been in review since 11/23 and still haven't heard anything.

I was gonna ask why you didn't apply to UCI but then I saw the stuff about part-time. I'm sure you'll get in off the waitlist if your numbers are both above their 75th percentile.

That is pretty odd if you don't have some academic discipline or something on your record... I wouldn't hesitate to ask them, in person if possible. If you're relatively local and could take a tour or attend an open house, that can never hurt. Or, since it's your safety, you could just wait and see if you get into a target.

With a 165, you will have much better options that Chapman. If you want to stay in the OC/LA area, maybe LMU would be good. I just can't fathom someone attending Chapman Law in this economy unless they were absolutely determined to stay in Orange County.

yeah i know, i applied to Loyola and UCI and USD as well, but chapman got back to me first.... at least ill go to law school somewhere, and at least it will be free at chapman

Someone said something about "attending Chapman in this kind of economy"... well, in this kind of economy, I think FREE is always good. Not that everyone should attend a TTT that offers them a ton of $$$, but it's something to think about.

I have a 3.1 and a 161, I've already been admitted to U of Miami, Santa Clara, and McGeorge, but I would still very much consider Cal Western if it was, financially speaking, a good deal. If jobs are harder to come by and everyone's, most likely, starting at a smaller salary, the pressure of $100 K to pay back can be a lot. While I do think it's important to consider the employment prospects of any law school, both the percentages and average starting salaries, we won't have the data for 2009 until we've already made out deposits and taken out our loans.

At the end of the day, whether you take out 30K or 150K, whether you go to Chapman or Harvard, there's no guarantee of a job. That's why we look at stats, averages, scholarships, loans, salaries. We want to put ourselves in the best possible position for that 6 figure income.

I understand your concern regarding finances, but you have to consider the risk involved in attending a lower ranked school at this point. You could accrue little debt, but you may not have a job coming out of law school...

UCI will still be pretty cheap for next year's entering class. Not free, but definitely quite a bit less than the other UC's.

Am I the only one annoyed by the fact that they ask about TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS on their application? Not to mention "Religious Preference." Very tempted to write in "Satanist."

What do you expect from a private faith based college? Chapman is my Alma Mater and considering how low they are on the rankings, they demand a lot of their applicants. I'm not sure if it's because they have a smaller school than most or just because they desire to climb the rankings as fast as possible.
