It might be late if they have your deposit but might as well ask... they don't yet know where else you have a deposit down or are on a waitlist.peyso wrote:I already sent in my deposit. You guys think its too late to try to get some of that extra money that they are shelling out?

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
If you're moving into NYC for the first time there's probably a lot of intangible value in taking the guaranteed housing. Once you're here it'll be easier to search for (and actually find) decent housing at a good price.btwn3and20characters wrote:What are peoples' thoughts on this?
I got the same offer and was 99% sure I was not even going to attend LS next year, but they are using their money magnet and pulling me in. Also, the housing stipend seemingly only applies if you decide NOT to live in one of their dorms. Does it make sense to even do that? They said that students living "off campus" saved around $3700 whereas they are giving 5000 for off campus. It makes economic sense in that case to live off campus and take the profit (haha).

Yeah yeah... anything over 100% is icing on the cake.sibley wrote: no, the letter said that they expected it to "nearly" cover tuition or something like that, "just about" "nearly" "not quite"...
p.s. I'm including the stipend in my "scholarship" b/c I've already got an adequate place in NYC. And I can't imagine it'd rise over $5,000 in a single year.

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
They sent me an e-mail yesterday asking if I was good to accept the part time offer. I said I got more money elsewhere and essentially tried to ask for money. They replied with "I'm sorry you won't be joining us next year." Rejected. For like the 10th time today.

Doh... maybe the word got out too far about asking for more money and reached admissions...

Eh, it's probably just that my numbers suck. But it was worth a shot I guess. Part time isn't really for me, and I couldn't afford Brooklyn without money anyway. Anyway, congrats to everyone who is going! Seems like an awesome school.

i had hard time deciding also...what helped me reach a decision is talking to people who are current students and those who recently graduated...a visit to each campus should help you decide also..sibley wrote:I'm having a hard time deciding. I still have yet to hear from Brooklyn. My numbers are lower than what they look for...but i think its weird. I applied early JAnuary....still haven't heard. I have heard from everywhere else. and some schools i applied at the start of March and have already heard.

Wow. Spring Waitlist for 163/3.8
I wrote a very string Personal Statement...
Anybody know if there is anything special to their waitlist? Or is it just like any other?

And look for them to fall below St. John's in next year's rankings with the bar passage numbers from this past year.dhg5004 wrote:brooklyns number reqs are ridiculous. does anyone else agree? they aren't even ranked very high yet their numbers are ranked as thouugh they're tier 1 ? whats the deal

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
this definitely wouldn't surprise me. I'm definitely leaning more toward Rutgers Newark (though I applied super super late past their deadline like a moron but hoping I get in)shutterbug wrote:And look for them to fall below St. John's in next year's rankings with the bar passage numbers from this past year.dhg5004 wrote:brooklyns number reqs are ridiculous. does anyone else agree? they aren't even ranked very high yet their numbers are ranked as thouugh they're tier 1 ? whats the deal
I think Rutgers even has Brooklyn beat. And it's been on the rise in rankings as well. And still has pretty good placement in NYC/NJ/Phila
Brooklyn seems to be a waste of $$

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
My application only went complete last week because my college took FOREVER to get the dean certification form to them. I called today and they said it's with the admissions committee. I applied for PT, what have the acceptance numbers been for PT? Is anyone else still waiting to hear from them?

I applied PT as well and still waiting to hear back. I am almost in the exact same situation as you, my school took awhile to send out the Dean's Certification.

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
I got accepted to a couple of TTTT's and waitlisted @ Hoftstra.
I am still waiting to hear from 4 schools but I am not confident of chances of being admitted.
If I get off the Hofstra waitlist, I will go there as it has always been my top choice.
Otherwise my plan is to sit for the LSAT in October and re-apply next year.
I have a really good job now so taking another year to make myself a better candidate is the prudent decision.
I just can't justify giving a good job to go in debt at a school that will provide me with limited opportunites upon graduating.

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
I got into Touro and NYLS with a full scholly- but I have no interest in going to either of them I kind of just applied to them as backup schools.
Yesterday I also found out that I was waitlisted to Hofstra- which is annoying because I was certain that I would get in there.
I'm still waiting to hear from St. Johns and PT for Fordham, Brooklyn and Cardozo which I really doubt I am going to get into either at this rate.

Re: Brooklyn 09/10 cycle
I am on the waitlist for Hofstra PT as well. I am waiting for a decision from Brooklyn. I applied to PT at Brooklyn as well.
Calling the admissions office has been no help. They just keep telling me it is with the admissions committee.
They say good things come to those who wait, so hopefully this will be a good thing.
I have low gpa/lsat, but I have some good softs and work as a paralegal.
Still waiting on;
Golden Gate Law School
UC Hastings
Brooklyn
