BYU 2010

I received a request to interview with Dean Hernandez yesterday and interviewed with him this morning. (It was really a great interview. Talked to him about much more than just law school and appreciated all of the advice he gave.)

Gave me an offer of admissions at the end. It was great. BYU is definitely a great option that I am seriously considering.

Congrats on the offer. I'm going to be talking to the Dean on Monday. Can you let me in on what you talked about (generalities, not necessarily specifics). You can PM me if you feel more comfortable with that. Thanks.

+1. I also have a interview with Dean Hernandez come Monday afternoon.

Wired: Can you tell me a little more of what to expect from the interview? Any topics of conversation would be appreciated.

Do they interview every applicant, or only those whom they have already decided to accept?

I don't know. I hadn't heard anything about an interview prior to being contacted. Maybe it is for those that they are having a difficult time deciding on? I can't imagine that the dean would interview (on phone or in person) every single applicant. This is all pure speculation on my part though. I really have no idea.

Good luck to all of you with interviews today! Dean Hernandez is a great man. Feel free to ask him anything.

Had my interview today. It went really well. I enjoyed talking with Dean Hernandez. He was very personable. I was given an offer of admission and I am definitely considering BYU (even more than before). Good luck to everyone else.

Had my interview yesterday as well. It lasted almost 45 minutes, which I think surprised both of us- good conversation. I was offered a seat as well in next year's class. I really appreciated his committing me to do due diligence, spend some time really thinking about what is best for my family, then decide whether that BYU or not.

He increased my desire to attend. He also told me that some students were getting referred back for further review and that he has the discretion to go either way once you walk through the door.

Good interview, good to be in.

Anyone hear anything about scholarship information?

Congrats to those getting in. I haven't heard anything about scholarships but I know that the BYU website says that your index number from the LSAC has to be above 236 and I am about a little off, so I wouldn't have heard anyway.

Good luck to those under review and if you get offered an interview......take it very seriously.

Where do you even find the index number?

Log on to your LSAC account. Under the "Apply" tab, click on "Report Status." At the bottom of the page will be listed every school that you sent an LSDAS report to. Each school will have a PDF. Click on that PDF (Should be same for each school). My work computer won't allow me to log on to LSAC, but if I remember correctly, half way down on the left hand side under the GPA block will be your LSAT score(s). Next to these (in the same block) will be your index number(s) and average index number. These are based off LSAT and GPA (I think).

Hope this helps.

Hopefully, that helped

There is an equation: (GPA x 19) + LSAT SCORE = INDEX

Note: A BYU rep that a friend of mine spoke with at our University's grad fair said BYU's minimum index for scholarship consideration is 235.

I met with Dean Hernandez on Friday and was also offered admissions. He didn't say anything specific about scholarships except that in the acceptance letter they will send information regarding a scholarship. This is the first school that I've been accepted to and it's kind of exciting and a relief!

I was pretty sure Dean Hernandez said they would be mailing out the acceptance letter that same day, but I haven't seen it yet. Anyone received their acceptance letter?
