You know why you're here. Complain, predict, discuss, speculate.

If it makes any of you people feel better, I'd die to be in your position right now.

As I'm sure all the people with no JR1s feel.

I think that I would much rather never get a JR1 than get one but not a JR2. Especially with my borderline stats, I feel like the probability of my not getting a JR 2 if I were to get a JR 1 would be much higher than normal.
this. JR1's totally bait you into thinking the acceptance is going to come any day, except everyone else gets called but you. at least without the JR1, you have a more realistic expectation of what's to come.
i'm in the club! JR1 11/30, and my interview peers got accepted today.
my theory is... JR didn't lie that the interview is just part of the application and is more of a psycho screen. i think for my app, they thought it was interesting, tossed me in with the interviews, looked at my app again, and decided the numbers just weren't good enough still.

You look pretty good for Berkeley, as I noted earlier, so I wouldn't be at all surprised if you got a call or email before Christmas. Remember, he's not calling everyone, just certain applicants.

The nice thing about the JR1 with non-autoadmit numbers is you have a seal of approval on your app. It should indicate you may hear good news from other schools, even if the JR2 never comes. I've convinced myself of this. It eases the pain.

I wonder how many pre-Thanksgiving JR1s get the JR2 in the end.

Very nice point and an excellent way to analyze the situation. You're right that a JR1 indicates a truly remarkable application, selected from an outstanding pool and thus measured by an extremely high standard.

Checking in...JR1 11/03....No JR2
I wrote the LSAT again on Sat to improve upon my lowly 170...
Say if I get a 173-175...do you guys think it's enough to get that JR2?

Maybe. I'd have to know your GPA (at least) to make a reasonable guess.

Sorry...GPA:4.0...Softs: Pretty good (founded a non-profit with some decent work done; internship for ibanking, auditing, olympics committee; published one research article; study abroad...)

Um, those softs are better than pretty good.
I'd say that a mid-170s LSAT, 4.0 GPA, and softs like yours would give you a strong chance.

In JR's position, I would appreciate your effort to improve your score and strengthen your application. But I'm not him, so please don't hold me accountable.
Good luck!

I'm gonna just go ahead and commiserate before I head off to work. Do we get a membership card? What would the logo for purgatory be?
Anyway, I'm trying to put it out of my head until Monday...and maybe I'll come back to commiserate on Tuesday. Hopefully not, though.

hm a rough count during my intense boredom at work would tell me that there are 10 or more of us floating around TLS. that seems like alot (given the previous theory of no pre-Thanksgiving non-accepts and the self-selecting nature of TLS and of posting). has anyone done research into how many people were in our situation a year ago?
and, has anyone done research into how well people with JR1-no-JR2 end up faring on the waitlist?
