I just called them up and they said that if it looks like your LSDAS report has been requested through LSAC, then they are aware of your application and, while not officially complete, you are kind of complete. From there (the receive paper), and the turnaround time is about 7-10 days.

VERY nice and helpful admissions office. A+

I have just accepted the fact that I won't hear anything until mid-January at the earliest.

does anyone else think their numbers are somewhat strange? Their LSAT median was especially high (167) but their median GPA (3.61) seemed a bit low compared to the LSAT median. Does anyone have a guess as to why this is? (I'm esp. worried because I'm the exact opposite  )

Why do those numbers seem strange to you? Cornell also has the same medians.

FWIW those numbers should definitely drop this year since there are no more full scholarships.

That's a bit comforting that stats might drop  The reason I thought it was strange was because the schools I'm looking into (all California schools) tend to have incredibly high LSAT medians (166-168) on top of incredibly high GPAs (3.7-3.8 ). Thought maybe it might shed some light into what Irvine was focusing on.

Everyone keeps guessing their numbers will drop. I won't seriously contend against the possibility, but I definitely don't think it's a given.

UCI is supposed to have generous scholarships again this year. (The rumored amount is 50% for lower end applicants, 100% for the upper end.) Given the outrageous tuition hikes at the other UC schools, I could see at least 60 students admitted to UCLA or USC who don't want to graduate with $180k in debt opting for UCI.

Hi there, UCI Law Class of 2012 here.

Our dean is absolutely committed to keeping the numbers up, and there is no mandate for a particular class size. In other words, Dean Chemerinsky would rather admit a class of 50 students with the same (or better) numbers than admit a larger class with lower scores and GPAs.

Keep your eyes peeled for formal announcements about the scholarships for the next class of students; the hope is to offer at least a 50% tuition scholarship for the entire class.

Today was our last day of class for the semester. I can honestly say this place is fantastic, with incredible professors and administrators who are accessible and dedicated to the success of the school and all of its students.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions. I'll try to answer them as a means of distracting myself from the stress of impending finals.

There was also the draw of becoming the first class at a brand new school, which isn't the case this year.

By the way, does anyone legitimately know how to pronounce Chemerinsky?

I look at it and think "KI-mere-nsk-EE" but I have heard it pronounced with a "CHI-" among other ways.

Dean C, if you're reading, let us know. And admit all of us. Please.

Good for you guys.

I think if I made any oversight in my application process, it was not applying to Irvine.

It wasn't listed in the USNEWS and World Report, so I just assumed it was a toilet school. By the time I looked into it and realized the amazing opportunity it was the day of their deadline.

Hahaha, this forum is getting so active that the thread I started in October on UCI (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =7&t=88514) is all the way on page 7.

Haven't heard a peep from them, but I'm not too worried. I tried calling them late October, and no one picked up. Hahaha.

Hope we find out. When he introduces himself at the orientation! Here's hoping we all get in with fat scholarships.

Thanks guys. Now when I tour campus this month, if I see him, I can freak out intelligently.

"My word! Dean CHE-mur-IN-skee! So good to meet you in person."

EDIT: Realized that my quote would more correctly be categorized as "suck up" intelligently as opposed to "freak out" intelligently.
