Re: UC Irvine 2013
Well, they never responded to my email re: status. Of course, that would be rather superfluous after the call ...
I wasn't planning on going to the 4/1 ASD, because I was hoping to have my decision made far in advance of that. Originally, I thought that ASD wouldn't matter in that regard, but now that I consider it, ASD would be a nice advance opportunity to meet the class if I did end up picking UCI.
We'll see if I receive an earth shattering admission at some of the other schools I applied to. I have to admit, though, that Irvine was the one school to get me really excited about applying to that school.

A amazing highish end sushi place close to UCI, there is also an amazing cheap sushi place and great Thai place in the same shopping center. Its called the diamond and it on alton and jamboree.Tofu wrote:what's tokyo table ? i have not tried this sushi pizza, but i am very intriguedGrayArea wrote: Edit: I know a little part of me will die when I leave Irvine and never again go to Tokyo Table and have their amazing sushi pizza.

actually, I took some time off between freshman and sophomore year... I was out for a couple of years, taking only one year off between ug and ls, so all in all about 3.5 hrs full time. I'm also Hispanic, and and have overcome some financial hardships...Inygma wrote:Any work experience or are you a few years out of UG?vickers711 wrote:socalren wrote:CONGRATULATIONS! I think it's just the dean. Interesting theory about reverse splitters, since I'm one and I also have work experience. But I also think I have pretty good softs. She also mentioned that they were impressed by my LORs, so I think those might have had some pull. Good luck to all, I really enjoy reading this thread and I'm super-excited!
Low 160s and 3.81 gpa from UCLA
Although that didn't seem to impress UVA so much when they gave me the boot

The sushi pizza is like $14 but has 16 pieces, the rolls run from 8-15. If I am really hungry my bf and I get 2 rolls and the pizza to split. Most times we just get 2 or 3 rolls for the two of us. Anything with shrimp is amazing. The spicy rolls are also really good. If you just want sushi go to the revolving sushi bar, its called Kali or something like that. I tis to die for and only $2 a plate, each plate has between 1 and 4 pieces on it. They also have the BEST handrolls.Tofu wrote:how expensive is it for you usually? and what do you get/suggest?GrayArea wrote: A amazing highish end sushi place close to UCI, there is also an amazing cheap sushi place and great Thai place in the same shopping center. I'm starting to think that the conversation Grayarea overheard was about applicants for like..an admissions officer job opening, or something completely irrelevant

Re: UC Irvine 2013
Everyone seems to be getting phone calls from the Dean with their acceptance but I got my acceptance in a THIN SMALL envelope a couple days ago! That totally freaked me out, haha. Half tuition scholarship, I'm of course thrilled!
Here's a tip for those concerned about whether or not their apps went "complete". If you sent in your app electronically (as i did) make sure to mail a physical copy of the checklist.
Instructions and form are here: --LinkRemoved--
I sent in my apps in December, and then realized in JANUARY that I didn't mail in this checklist (oops). After mailing it in during mid-Jan, it wasn't a week later that I got my acceptance in the mail. It could be a coincidence, but just in case this helps out one person...
Good luck everyone!

Thanks for mentioning the checklist - I have no recollection of whether or not I sent that, only vaguely recall reading that in the instructions. I'll have to check now, you may have saved my ap just before the deadline...mbv wrote:Everyone seems to be getting phone calls from the Dean with their acceptance but I got my acceptance in a THIN SMALL envelope a couple days ago! Hm someone said that they would contact you if you were missing something from your file. When I called last year they said they had no way of checking whether your file was complete or not until they review it--I wonder if they can check if they got the checklist? Ruleser, will you let me know, if you call them, if they were able to tell you they received yours or not? I know I sent mine in but I'd just want to make sureruleser wrote:Thanks for mentioning the checklist - I have no recollection of whether or not I sent that, only vaguely recall reading that in the instructions. edit: I just called - they said they would contact you if they were missing the checklist, but if you really want to be safe, you should send in another one.

Hmmm, I'm like 99% sure I sent it in, but it SO LONG AGO I can't say for sure. Eh, I'll assume they would have contacted by now if it wasn't.msch0i wrote:Hm someone said that they would contact you if you were missing something from your file. Dean Chemerinsky called me at 8:30 this morning to say hi and ask if I had any questions. All I could do was laugh nervously and say no, not really. He sounds so incredibly friendly.
