Sweet, got my acceptance letter today. Thin envelope, I was thinking for a second that it might be a waitlist. W&L is a school I hadn't really seriously considered before visiting, but it is a really nice atmosphere if you dig small towns. If they're generous with $$ I'm going to have a tough decision.

Re: Washington and Lee
A "general" rant....
There's so much entitlement and whining coming from posters on this website -- it's scarcely believable. A score, GPA, or life story does not guarantee admission to a law school, nor does it necessarily predict when someone will be admitted. Submitting early does not mean that you should be evaluated (much less admitted) before people who submitted later. Schools are not required to "get back to you" in a timely fashion.
People over on the BU thread are flummoxed that someone with a 170 didn't get in while people with 168s have been granted admission left and right. The discussion about Michigan has taken on a similar tone -- "Why haven't they admitted me? I had the same numbers!" Same with William and Mary, and now here. The Georgetown thread has been bombarded with histrionics from obsessive status checkers who actually, sincerely believe that they have been wronged by the admissions staff for posting "Decision" online and not immediately letting them know what that decision actually is.
Without question one of the biggest groups of whiners I have ever heard. I don't understand why people feel that law schools in the general sense -- or a particular law school that you'd like to attend -- owe you ANYTHING. They don't. They don't owe you a prompt evaluation, they don't owe you a decision since you applied early, and they are not obligated to admit you if they've admitted someone with similar numbers (even if you saved a small village in X LDC). They are not indebted to you. You elected to give them $75 or so in order to have a decision rendered on your application by next spring. Enough already.

Ok, it's been an hour since I last checked, so back out into the rain I go to see if the mail has arrived. By the way, I'm in Phoenix, so the fact that it has been raining all day today is super awesome, but also kind of annoying.

Sigh, no mail for me yet. Mailman, who it turns out is actually a mailwoman, just arrived, and our complex is huge so it'll be a while before she gets to mine. Guess I'm going back out in another hour.NancyBotwin wrote:Ok, it's been an hour since I last checked, so back out into the rain I go to see if the mail has arrived. Re: Washington and Lee
Funny aside: there must have been a mishap at the W&L mail office or somewhere along the road, because an applicant with the same last name as me from Charlotte, NC had his notification mailed in tandem with mine. The letters were literally stuck together. The guy got in, so he shouldn't be too upset, but I guess he'll have to wait an extra day or two to find out.
For those that are wondering, the letter is a small, normal-sized envelope. I initially thought it was a waitlist or reject, but it was not.

I'm sorry that's not what I meant, I guess I'm just a little nerve ridden seeing as how I got two waitlists today. I just would like to get in somewhere.Veritas wrote:No I don't think you are not getting in, and I appreciate your hardship, but it's just coming off as very self-entitled.robin600 wrote:I understand that Veritas, but it is likely to be considered and I have a compelling story to tell (eight surgeries and six straight semesters of 4.0s after my surgeries).Veritas wrote:Blind =/= URM boost....robin600 wrote: OMG!!!!!!!!!!! we have the exact same numbers and I haven't gotten anything yet, I'm also blind!!!!!!!! Complete 11/05. Am I doomed to the waitlist?
Do you guys think I'm not getting in.
Reading your post to that poster, it came off like: "How could they accept you and not accept me I'm such a better applicant" - I know you didn't mean to come off that way, but that's how it reads. You didn't even tell them congratulations on their acceptance.
I'm sorry for not congratulating you bluedevil you deserved it! I'm sorry for coming off like an ass, I'm really not and I deeply apologize!!! I wish you all the best of luck. I think I'm just in shock because we have similar numbers and i was complete before him so I thought it was funny he heard and I didn't. Congrats bluedevil! Is this your first choice?
