Re: Univ of Georgia
I'm looking for a roommate to split a 2BR/2BA apartment with at 909 Broad St. next year. Great location near the law school and 5-6 other 1Ls will be living on the same floor.
Send me a message if you're interested.

Re: Univ of Georgia
The consensus is OOS-ers were screwed at a certain point in the process because UGA had filled it's OOS numbers. I was borderline either way, but I think had I gotten my 165 in September instead of Feb, I would have had a better shot of getting in directly instead of the WL I ended up with.mkm41 wrote:sorry if this has already been addressed, but did uga just accept too many people early on? i didnt apply until feb 1, but its one of the only schools ive taken the time to visit and was really interested in going... waitlisted with 171/3.4 at a top private university
I'm going to be working on my LOCI to hopefully send out on Monday. I really wanted to visit and try to pull out all the stops to get off teh WL, but it pretty much got quashed and I can't afford to take off work anyway .

Yep. I think my 3.0 UG GPA had something to do with Emory failing to show me the love on that one too.TheBigMediocre wrote:Hey Married0L, Vik and I were both in the same boat with no money at Emory (and I'm a 170). I actually visited the school and flat out asked the dean why I wasn't offered scholarship money. Check for my post in the Emory thread if you're interested in how they divvy up scholarship money.married0L wrote:MissVik, how were you not considered for scholarship money at Emory w/ a 169? They are screwy with their money.
It will basically amount to a little more than $10k a year more to go to Emory over UGA and I don't know if it gains me all that much if I am pretty certain I want to be in Atlanta (or at least the Southeast).
I am ready for some Bar Review at Trapeze this coming fall. I love me some free excellent beer. Anyone else in this thread already living in Athens?

Has anyone heard back about scholarship increases? I know they were going to review scholarship offers April 1-15...

I am OOS and on the waiting list. UGA is my #1 choice, are my chances slim to none at this point?

Re: Univ of Georgia
I am a current 1L at UGA law and am looking for one roommate for my one available room in my 3BR/3BA condo in the Woodlands. The Woodlands is on the east-side of Athens and is a short drive to campus. The complex also has a lot of amenities, a great pool, and usually a lot of law students living in it. Message me if you might be interested or if you have any questions.

I just called the Admissions Office to confirm they received my LOCI and was going to ask this question but the woman I talked to seemed friendly but busy. So I got nervous and chickened out...

Are you all of the opinion that UGA is still worth sticker (in state) ITE?

Re: Univ of Georgia
To those of you living at 909:
Excellent choice. My best friend lived there when we were in UG at UGA. We could walk DT to hit the bars, but it was pretty far from all the commotion when you needed to be away from all that. It's walking distance to the LS and close to the Publix & Kroger down past Barnet Shoals (do not try to walk all the way down Barnet Shoals unless you are packing heat.) 909 is pretty new and gated, so thats always a plus. It's also walking distance to the football stadium. If you go to UGA please please go to a football game (make sure its a SEC match-up, not UGA vs some creampuff). Try to go to the night games, they are ELECTRIC. Even if you're not a huge football fan, this is an important part about being a Bulldog. Have fun future bulldogs! Congrats to all of you, I'm sure you will love Athens! I'll be missing Athens this fall

UGA IS is < $100k in debt ... that's like receiving a guaranteed 1/2 tuition scholarship at most schools. I'd say UGA (IS) is one of the best bargains around.shawty18ga wrote:Are you all of the opinion that UGA is still worth sticker (in state) ITE?

Going to Athens in the morning with my dad. Called 909 Broad 3 times today and got voicemail. Think if I just show up during office hours tomorrow I can get a tour anyway? I know someone who already has a lease there and I want to look the place over and ask about individual leases/roommate agreements.

100% true. I got a 165 in september. 3.06. In with in-state equalization scholarship. Hopefully things will work out for you.keg411 wrote:The consensus is OOS-ers were screwed at a certain point in the process because UGA had filled it's OOS numbers. WL'ers Lets Talk through the process. UGA is where I need to be, who else on the WL feels the same way? http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 7&t=111430

I'm right there with you, Athens is such a perfect town for me, I just didn't know that until February when I applied . I'll wait it out as long as I have to, it's worth it. If not, I'll be at OSU; definitely the antithesis to the warm weather I would enjoy in Georgia.YourExcellence-ness wrote:WL'ers Lets Talk through the process. Re: Univ of Georgia
Just got my roommate for 909 Broad. Unfortunately, it wasn't Miss Georgia 2010. She refused to return my phone calls, even when I phrased my answering machine messages in Q&A form.
Anyone else planning to move down to Athens early? I'm heading there in May to get a PT job hopefully for the double-whammy of a mailing address and paying some state income tax to help my cause for residency.

mailed in my deposit yesterday, though if I don't get a scholarship after the second round is handed out, I don't know if I can justify paying the OOS tuition when I have scholarship offers at other schools. I REALLY love UGA though... :/

i know it shouldn't matter, but the 28 is making me consider them over wake (38), when I had previously all but made up my mind in favor of wake.

It made me smile a little bit because I'd already selected them over Wake. They are meaningless, next year UGA could drop and Wake could rise and they'll be tied for 34 or something but 10 places between them feels like a lot more than 5 doesn't it?Nicholasnickynic wrote:i know it shouldn't matter, but the 28 is making me consider them over wake (38), when I had previously all but made up my mind in favor of wake.

Gratz, must make you feel good. Yes, 10 just seems like so much.missvik218 wrote:It made me smile a little bit because I'd already selected them over Wake. Plus its now in the semi-elite top 30 ><.
Somehow, I don't think I should change my life plans (where I live) because of 1 year in a magazine. But... ahh..
DAMN YOU RANKINGS!
Also.. 90% at graduation > 74%... kind of a big deal

If rankings tell us anything, it's that school rankings don't tend to change much.Nicholasnickynic wrote:Gratz, must make you feel good.
