Re: Penn State 2010 application cycle
Withdrew today (even though I already said I was going to a couple of weeks ago...) Hopefully my seat and scholarship end up going to a waitlisted/still waiting TLSer.

Got my acceptance today, the first decision handed down to me from a law school. They were very quick, I literally submitted my application a week ago.

Hey guys recently accepted(last Thursday), and really wanting to take a trip out there maybe for open house. I saw someone said something about a travel stipend, anyone mind sharing how you go about asking for it or do they just notify you if you got one or not

There seem to be a lot of people on LSN...maybe the whole fee waiver thing is because they extended their deadline.anthonyc350 wrote:PSU having touble filling up their class?

Waitlisted on 2/24. In today via phone call from the dean of admissions. Extremely nice guy. Couldn't be happier.

My app has been "in review" since 12 / 23. Well, I've already decided to go somewhere else, but it's still annoying.

Re: Penn State 2010 application cycle
Just posted this in the penn state open house thread as well:
Can someone please suggest a hotel? The Nittany Lion Inn is booked up. I was thinking about the Penn Stater but I really have no idea what the layout of campus and the town is. I would like to be somewhere close to some decent action (bars, shopping, restaurants, other prospective law students, etc). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try the Days Inn. It's right in town and you can walk everywhere. for any programs on campus you can catch the loop buses at either beaver ave. and allen street or college ave. and allen street. If not check out the Atherton Hotel on Atherton Street. Also walking distance to all the bars and close to a loop stop. The loop buses are free.

The Penn Stater is a nice place. It's located away from campus in innovation park so you'll need to hop on a bus but it's really a quick ride.

Re: Penn State 2010 application cycle
that is the process excluding the "received" step.. dont remember getting any notification regarding that... regardless, you will go COMPLETE, UR, and then DECISION (REJ/ACC/WL). Took almost 1.5 months from app sent to decision for me... good luck...JDO wrote:How many steps to the status check?

I was accepted about a week ago, and really hoping for some scholarship money. But I got my application package with no scholarship, so its unfortunately probably out for me.

I am assuming then that the bus system on campus is somewhat convenient?izzy1 wrote:The Penn Stater is a nice place. It's located away from campus in innovation park so you'll need to hop on a bus but it's really a quick ride.

Re: Penn State 2010 application cycle
I think they got to a point where they ran out of money. If you look a couple of pages back it looks like some folks with some pretty high numbers didn't get a scholly if they applied later in the process. I took the admit letter that I got to mean they are going to look at the scholly $$ after the first round of deposits to see if they have more money.
I am hoping mid-April brings some cash.

Excuse me if this sounds dumb but does anyone know if Penn State and Temple are peer schools? I got a nice scholarship at Temple and I am wondering if its worth a shot to see if Penn State will up my award?
