Hmmm...somebody else told me it was June 15th. Probably even less reason to get my hopes up....but either way, I think I'll be okay.Pless wrote:The multiple deposit report (with names) was available on May 15th this year, schools have had this information for a couple of weeks now. U can probably have mine. I didn't get a usb driveJCougar wrote:
Illinois admits got USB drives? I got a pen from W&L and that's it...I'm definitely wishing I had some more law school schwag. If we don't get in to Illinois but there are still USB drives left over, can the waitlisters still get one?
Oh well, it probably wouldn't have made it trough customs anyways.
If my student visa doesn't get approved tomorrow, u might also get my spot in the class.
Other than some unexpected reason like not getting student visas, family problems or the like, I can't envision any of the admitted students withdrawing. Every one on the FB group is pretty hyped about attending.

Our class size is right on the money at the moment.

Dean Pless, how is the overall competitiveness of the Class of 13 profile forecasting?

Sounds like you did a great job, then. Of course, I'm biased, but it seems like for me it would be a lot of guesswork and dart-throwing.Pless wrote:Our class size is right on the money at the moment.

I suspect that (s)he is asking about how LSAT/GPA statistics stack up against previous classes at Illinois.

I haven't even started any of my visa process, you will be fine.... Immigration offices loveee F-1 students, I think they secretly wish we all stay here.Luis Gomez wrote:U can probably have mine. I didn't get a usb driveJCougar wrote:

Also, W&L gave me no pen!
I'm glad there is "talk" again in this forum, I've been coming every day and being disappointed on the lack of talk here. I'm glad I ended up choosing Illinois, it looks like our class is going to be a really strong pool. And this only speaks about the future of Illinois, Dean Pless + Dean Smith = success.
Btw: those someone knows what's the cheapest way to ship a box to champaign?

I hope we have a strong class, but more than that I hope we have a friendly class!
What size box?

I don't like to give away too much information to our competition, but the Class of 2013 will be the most talented class the College has ever enrolled.

Top 20, here we come.

These are great news, perhaps, maybe next year Illinois will reclaim its rightful place among the top 20 schools. Not that it matters much, but saying, "a top 20 school" has a better ring than "top 21 school."
I agree with blurbz, one of the selling points for Illinois is that their students, AND STAFF, are super nice and dont give you a bullshit answer when you ask tough questions. Make sure you dont take that away. And Blubrz, I'm a very likable person (at least my mommy told me so)

Looks like from LSN, the LSAT median is still going to be 166 again, but my guess is that the GPA median has gone up even more, and the 25th percentile numbers have probably significantly improved on both ends. What I'm wondering is if the LSAT 75th was bumped up to 168. That would be pretty incredible.

Good call on the faculty/admin/staff being great, too: I was sold after my visit where I not only got good, solid answers from Dean Pless but also from the person working in the bookstore, a random student in the atrium, and the guy working at starbucks. Nothing beats getting a good feeling from everyone at a place...

This is what makes Illinois stand out to me (other than its placement). Other schools can be so full of it, and for the casual law school applicant, they probably won't even notice how their expectations are being massaged and twisted until a few years into school. But there's a growing group of people who are seeking to really inform themselves about the decision they are making (thanks, TLS), and to this group, the typical admissions office/CSO BS is much more transparent.cr073137 wrote: I agree with blurbz, one of the selling points for Illinois is that their students, AND STAFF, are super nice and dont give you a bullshit answer when you ask tough questions. Exactly. How's the waitlist wait going? Any news at all? I know you have WUSTL (that's right, right?)...have you sent LOCI and etc. to Illinois yet?

Re: Illinois 2010!
Yeah, I got WUSTL with a small scholarship, but it's still expensive. Their tuition's $3K more than Illinois' in the first place, so I really feel that if spots eventually open up, Illinois has the potential to come through. I know applying late kind of handcuffed me at a few places, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Being a splitter doesn't help either. This was a bad cycle to rely on a February LSAT score. Especially at Illinois, which seems to be having zero problems with yield.blurbz wrote:JCougar wrote:This is what makes Illinois stand out to me (other than its placement). I'll be at a good school regardless, but I was hoping for the lowest-priced option that places well in Chicago.

I hear you. If I have to spend the next three years with all of you, you better be awesome. That's all I'm saying. But so far I've gotten an "awesome" vibe so this looks promising.
