no, money comes later.gochrisgo wrote:I'm sure the answer is in this thread somewhere... Sorry to be lazy, but I can't find the right search parameters that get me the post with the answer to this question:
Does Michigan include the merit scholarship info in the first mailing they send out? Or does it follow sometime afterward?
I know they mention a mailing series to follow the acceptance letter, but I haven't had time to really study the letter yet (just got accepted). Clearly, if it's supposed to be in the first mailing then I'm looking at sticker, but I thought I'd ask.
Any hints or links to the right info?
Thanks in advance.
PS: didn't know Salazar was a Mich grad! cool to see him in the vid.

Just out of curiosity, how did you get Summer Start if you didn't want it/couldn't do it?rogerlodge wrote:45K as well. If attending will need to get out of summer start as well. Interestingly got $0 from Boston U today.

+1 to this, BTW. Love them.loveistheway wrote:Michigan is amazing, by far (like 10,000 leagues under the sea far) the friendliest law school I've had contact with; their staff is just incredibly accessible and generous.

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Question again regarding the Mail and Money tab on the Admitted Students site. I noticed that the mailings I have received to this point show up under the admissions communications again (nothing has shown up there for the past few weeks). For those that received scholarship offers, is that noted as well under the admissions communications? The financial aid communications page says it will be down until the end of february.
Thanks for the help!

Some in this thread have said "no, it doesn't show up there"JetstoRJC wrote:Question again regarding the Mail and Money tab on the Admitted Students site. Thanks y'all, and grats rogerlodge.
Yea, nothing there about the scholarship. There had been nothing at all there before, for the past few weeks, but now it's showing the admissions packet/follow up/housing info/Preview Weekend invite.jackassjim wrote:Some in this thread have said "no, it doesn't show up there"JetstoRJC wrote:Question again regarding the Mail and Money tab on the Admitted Students site. Dean's Scholarship for $45k today. I was surprised, was not expecting much money from them.

I was thinking that it should, when the list finally returned (mine showed nothing for about a month), but now I'm thinking that it will show up under the financial aid communications tab when it becomes available in Feb...JetstoRJC wrote:Question again regarding the Mail and Money tab on the Admitted Students site. I was admitted to Michigan within days of getting that e-mail. At first I thought I was being YPed.Jericwithers wrote:Me too.Oli wrote:Same questionShaggier1 wrote:Were any of today's admits among those who got that "sorry we are taking so long!" email from Michigan earlier this week?

Thats good to know. I was afraid that it meant we would have to wait until March to get a decision.leangreenbeans wrote:I was admitted to Michigan within days of getting that e-mail. Hmmm, I've been able to log on the Admitted Students site since yesterday, but my status is still "Complete." Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks! Sorry if that was an obvious question, but on a quick read-through it looked like most people went "Decision" on the same day or before they logged on to AS site.

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Official rejection letter received today. DR 1/09
Was over 75% GPA and slightly below median LSAT. Thank god for TLS..knowing that not being able to get into the admitted students site = probable rejection really softened the blow.
Best of luck to everyone else!

Hmm...3.85+/168 applicants fared quite well on LSN last year...K's Logic wrote:Official rejection letter received today. DR 1/09

Also, quick question about the being excluded from need based aid...what if you are a very high need candidate and you get a scholarship from michigan? Is it possible you would get more need based aid if you declined the merit one?

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
That would extremely surprising. You could write the financial aid office to know what is their limit on need-based aid, but I'm pretty sure it'll be lower than whatever they gave you when they prevent you from getting other stuff...def2104 wrote:Also, quick question about the being excluded from need based aid...what if you are a very high need candidate and you get a scholarship from michigan? Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Maybe if it's only a small scholarship (< $45k?). Is there anyone with, say, a $30k scholarship that could share their scholarship's stipulations to see? But even then, the grant probably wouldn't be very much more.def2104 wrote:Also, quick question about the being excluded from need based aid...what if you are a very high need candidate and you get a scholarship from michigan? I guess I'm confused as to what a very high need candidate is. I can understand with college, where it's so much more common for parents to pay, that taking out large loans could be a problem (it's a big burden on low income parents). But with law school, it seems like for the vast majority of those who take out loans, it's the students who take them out. You'd be able to take out the entire tuition + COL for three years through the financial aid loan options, so I guess I'm not sure how some people can be very high need, while the majority isn't. If such a large percentage of students take out massive loans, it seems like they're all very high need, or none of them are...

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Yeah I understand what you mean...for me I have family obligations in that I have been helping to support my family since highschool. This will be the first time I can't really work or help them out and if I can it won't be enough to send money to them. In UG I worked full-time, or just under for most of my time there.starstruck393 wrote:Maybe if it's only a small scholarship (< $45k?).
