Re: U Penn 2010
I'm still at "Application Received and Processing!" I submitted over a month ago, and my list of requirements makes it look like it's all incomplete. My LSAC account shows that they requested and received the report, but should I call to check anyway? I applied RD with a 172 and a 3.4. What are my chances given how late I am going complete? Penn is my first choice and I am starting to get nervous. FWIW, I got a merit based fee waiver and have visited, met with admissions reps and the like. Thanks!

I guess we don't know. Penn is a huge long shot for me, so I'm not expecting much other than the thrill of the unknown.

dunno -- i'm not sure how they calculate, but it would seem to make sense that before you matriculate they need a final transcript to at least verify that you graduated. i always figured they calculated off that.texasgirl22 wrote:ohhh...i thought they reported whatever gpa they get from you when you apply? i thought they were askign for fall grades in the hopes ours would go up so they could report higher gpas if they wanted to accept us....no?

That is really strange. I submitted 11/08 and was complete 11/17. When did you submit exactly?WhyBother? wrote:I'm still at "Application Received and Processing!" They could just be looking for consistency or they might just want time to chew on it. You also have a chance to impress them further if you DO improve (wish I had that now )

I submitted 11/10. I guess that's just barely over a month, and there was the Thanksgiving break, but I am getting really nervous.PoorOrpheus wrote:That is really strange. Military softs can't even be compared to work experience in any meaningful way. Schools cream themselves over soldier apps.puppins wrote:he's on active duty in the middle east or something right now. so probably awesome softs.shadowfrost000 wrote:Any idea about softs?texasgirl22 wrote:no....blhoward has a 168, 3.92 and is being deferred versus bonzoo with a 168 3.85 who got in. i remember the low lsat/high gpa crowd though....

Re: U Penn 2010
At least you read your LORs. My boss is a terrible writer (and knows nothing about LORs), and I expected her to run it by me first. Didn't happen. I had a terrible fear that it was a giant list of my pros and cons in bright blue font.texasgirl22 wrote:yeah seriously. with me, i have a slight downward grade trend, but that's all i can think of. one of my LOR's might have been bland but...

Because they are likely to be flaming liberals. I um, wasn't serious about hating the troops. I just like pointing these things out.The Kim Jong illest wrote:puppins wrote:Military softs can't even be compared to work experience in any meaningful way. More or less correct except with regards to certain things (holding public office, military members, etc)bowie8285 wrote:shadowfrost000 wrote:Any idea about softs?texasgirl22 wrote:no....blhoward has a 168, 3.92 and is being deferred versus bonzoo with a 168 3.85 who got in. i remember the low lsat/high gpa crowd though....

texas, i wouldn't worry too much about the slight downward trend. mine has been upward and they're waiting on me, too. but i'm with you in hoping they don't need to see upward movement.

I understand that you're joking, but the assumption that 'flaming liberals' hate the troops is just...annoyingly wrong. I'd consider myself a flaming liberal, but my brother is in the Navy, and I certainly do not hate him or any other troops (well, there is this one guy, but that's a personal thing, not because he's a Marine). Disagreeing with the war =/= hating the troops (and those crazy hippies who do hate the troops have issues). The Kim Jong illest wrote:Because they are likely to be flaming liberals. Re: U Penn 2010
so, i just called and found out that at least for me, the committee won't be meeting again until Jan. All additional supporting material has to be in by mid-Jan. So, for those of you who either got straight 'hold for further review' or that 'effective' deferral, take it for what it's worth. We have a long waiting game ahead of ourselves!

Great, now save that rant and copy/paste it to someone who makes that equivocation in an even remotely serious fashion.NancyBotwin wrote:I understand that you're joking, but the assumption that 'flaming liberals' hate the troops is just...annoyingly wrong. Personally I find some of our troops absolutely adorable in their little uniforms.
