Has anybody heard anything from W&M? I submitted my app to them along with my first batch over a week ago and haven't heard anything at all.

Just an email saying my app was complete and that I would not hear anything until April 1, as they do not have rolling admissions.

I haven't even gotten this, and I submitted my app last day in September.

Really? I got the application complete email today and it says they have a modified rolling admissions process, with most people hearing back by the end of March.

And it just dawned on me that I probably didn't mail in the in-state papers, which is delaying my file since I picked in-state on the application. Smart.

I've heard nothing back since I applied in Sep. I'm not expecting to hear back anytime soon (unless it is a quick rejection). They get a ton of apps AND I bet most applicants also apply for one or more of the fellowships. That makes for lots of reading.

We are not a rolling admission school. Applicants will be notified of their decision by April 1, 2010. There is a possibility that some applicants will receive an earlier notification if a decision has been finalized. However, most applicants should expect to receive their decision by April 1.

That's why my email said.

April 1st? No thanks, W&M.

Yeah, that's pretty rough. Like they are not even close to the top of many peoples' lists and they expect people to wait 6 months? Especially when a lot of schools will let you know by 12/15 if you're in by mid-Oct.

I would think it'd behoove them to try and snag top talent early on with big money offers. But, I guess they are a small state program and don't roll that way.

Ouch.

They are pretty high on my list but that hurts a lot.

I'll have to sell my house, my wife needs to get her state certification for the state, get a job...that's too late.

I hope it's earlier.

You're right, I was too quick to jump on them for their email. LSN shows people applying in mid-October got decisions by mid-Nov. Mid-Nov -> Mid-Dec. Etc.

I just used my standard PS with a part edited to speak to why W&M directly.

Complete this morning, as well.

I did more of a "obstacles I overcame" essay. They elaborated the topic to this point online so I took some liberties to form it more as a DS.

It seems most law schools are seriously overestimating the time it takes to render decisions so that no one will bother them with calls in November and December. I've already been accepted to two schools, one of which told me specifically in an email that they didn't start looking at apps until Mid-November.

I think there is nothing to worry about. I got my complete from William and Mary a while back and I suspect people will start hearing around the middle of next month and most will hear something by January.

William & Mary takes forever. I applied in December and didn't hear until like April. Everybody last year was wondering what was going on with them.So don't sweat it...they are notorious for taking a long time.

I think I went along these lines as well as I found the prompts to their PS and optional statement interesting. I actually ended up switching my essays and used my DS as my PS (prompt asked for contribution to class), and my PS as the optional "obstacles" essay.

Hope it fits.

William and Mary had the fastest turnaround time of all the schools I applied to, I heard back within two weeks.

I don't think I'm an outlier either, most of the people I've talked to at W&M got their acceptance letters within a few weeks of going complete. Generally, it seems like if you are accepted, you hear back within a few weeks, and if you are rejected, they don't get back to you for months and months.

I don't know about law school but I remember for undergrad they were the first school to get back to me (a matter of weeks).
