Only speculation, but I'd doubt it. The deposit deadline just passed and I'd imagine it would take at least a week to see who deposited, figure out where the class is lacking (males, females, high GPAs, high LSATs, people who worked before LS, different backgrounds, etc.) and add depth from the waitlist.lawschool5523 wrote:anyone think those on the waitlist will hear anything this week

do you guys even think there's a possibility of anyone getting off the waitlist? If they really were overfilled by 50+ people as of april 1st, they would have to have quite a large portion of the acceptees to change their minds for even the blank status checker people to get in...not to mention the people on the actual waitlist

I e-mailed them after I paid and the payment was confirmed today. However, they told me to pay with a check for the second deposit. It was through the circle park online website for UTK

That's sort of what I was thinking, not to be mean to anyone on the actual waitlist. The way I see it, there are about 5-6 of us, at least, on TLS who have blank status checkers. That means there are sure to be more who just don't post to TLS. Say there are only 20 people who are blank, that's still a LOT of spots. I know this sounds like I am assuming they would take a blank status checker over a waitlist person, but I am figuring they would have just added us to the waitlist if this was not the case.southernboy wrote:do you guys even think there's a possibility of anyone getting off the waitlist? I'm hoping that it is more complicated than that...southerngrace wrote:That's sort of what I was thinking, not to be mean to anyone on the actual waitlist. I know that UT is trying to build a specific type of incoming class. As a Tennessee resident, all I can hope for is that they need to bulk up their in-state numbers and make offers some of us who are TN residents and on the waitlist.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
Well when I called the admissions office, the lady told me that the blank status checker group is in a higher position than the waitlist. I'm assuming that means they would accept all of us blank statuses before digging in to the waitlist...but I could be wrong. Either way, I'm guessing that at least 50 people would have to not send in seat deposits for us to get offers. I don't know how this usually shakes out, so anything I could say at this point would be pure conjecture. I would be curious to know how many of us have blank status checkers though. You're right, southerngrace, that about 5-6 people on this sight had blank statuses, but about 2-3 of them decided to withdraw/not send in their letter of interest. So for example, if there where 30 people originally in the group, I'd speculate that only 10-15 remain. But that is still a lot of spots to fill

They sure tell you a lot when you call. Next time you get the urge to call, you should ask how long before they have an idea of whether or not the class is full. haha, I think the lady took mercy on me because I've been "in review" for over 6 months now without a decision. I figure thats why she gave me a little more information than usual. But I'll try to find out more information if I cansoutherngrace wrote:They sure tell you a lot when you call. I'm on two waitlists so I went ahead and paid my deposit at UT.. I told myself that if I get into Illinois off the waitlist then I'd 100% attend.. but the staff at UTK is so awesome! My interactions with Janet Hatcher and Karen Britton have been nothing but pleasant. I could definitely see myself being happy at UTK! Good luck to all on the waitlist! If you really want it, hope you get it!!

Thanks for the updates. I was a blank status checker but I withdrew. But I am still interested to see how this plays, if at all.southernboy wrote:Well when I called the admissions office, the lady told me that the blank status checker group is in a higher position than the waitlist. Me. I really need to know soon. I'm about to lose my option to take a loan at George Mason, I have one week to let them know.southernboy wrote:so my status went from being blank to "Still Interested". I take it this means they recieved my still interested form. Did this happen to anyone else?

Mine has also changed to Still Interested.
Is the GM loan binding? Can you accept and cancel disbursement if necessary?
I accepted my STCL loan, since that is my one definate option at the moment, but my paperwork says it won't be disbursed until the first week of August.
I think I recall that I did the same thing in undergrad. I accepted a loan and then did not end up going to that school. It still shows up on my FAFSA record, but it shows that disbursment was cancelled and I never owed on it.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
I have never taken a loan before, and I was nervous to accept it without being 100% sure I was attending. The FinAid office gave me an extension though, which about to run out. If you accept the loan at one school, will it prevent you from being offered the Stafford at another, for example, UTK if I get in? I'm also not sure I would go to GMU over Florida State if I don't get UTK. I am kinda deferring decision making until I know everything, or procrastinating, as some people refer to it.raperez129 wrote:

That's very ... vague.southernboy wrote:Alright guys, so I emailed Dr. Britton about us applicants with status checkers (I also included that I was very interested in UTk). Basically she told me that there hadn't been much national movement yet to cause movement at UTk. I'm not sure how to interpret this, but it doesn't sound like any slots opened up from the 1st seat deposit deadline...So I guess it means more waiting

They are being very vague since they know very little about running an admissions office

Called this morning ...
They are still overfilled. They said once other schools turn to their waitlists and accept people, they expect to see the class size decrease. But as of right now, they are not making any admissions offers.

So what do you think you're going to do at this point? wait on UT or go forward with FSU or George Mason? I'm starting to look at aparments at LSU now, but I probably wont sign a lease or anything until a week before school starts. I guess I'm hoping beyond hope that some slots will open up for us blank statusers at UTKsoutherngrace wrote:Called this morning ...

June 1 can't get here soon enough. Hopefully, the second seat deposit deadline will mean a little movement. Sigh.
