I actually was just speaking today with Dean Reid (about unrelated stuff), but I asked for you guys about the WL...she said they will be going to the WL later this week...and that they are looking to fill about 20 spots or so. Start sending in those LOCIs!

Well, hopefully not...I know there are a lot of long-time posters on this forum that REALLY do want to go there -- my advice to you is to really just honestly express your interest to them, and be upfront about it. I've worked with the admissions office a lot this year, and they really are great people who are responsive to student input...you'd be amazed how much reaching out to them might help!

Does that mean they will finish making decisions by the end of the week or is this another school that will be pulling from the wait list before finishing with the apps they received.

Not sure. I seemed to get the impression that this would be happening after all decisions were made, but you can never really know the inner-workings of the law school admissions process...

Putting the facts below together, it doesn't look very good for folks who have not yet gotten a decision as of today (if there are still any):

1) USC will be pulling around 20 applicants off the WL later this week;
2) In my WL letter, they said that only applicants whose WL acknowledgment letters are received by May 11 will actually be placed on the WL; and
3) The last batch to go DF (5/6), which was 2 days after my WL batch, was a reject batch, although several of the applicants had auto admit numbers.

From what I gather, everyone's WL letter had a deadline like yours. The date depended on when you received it. It was something like a 72 hour window in which to submit it. I'm only going off of what I read on here though as I am still awaiting an initial decision.

Yeah, you could be right; I just have this tendency to try and put pieces of information together and hypothesize. I can only hope my acknowledgment letter makes it to admissions on time - mailed it yesterday (got the WL letter Friday pm). And hopefully, hopefully, I get to be among the 20 or so. Otherwise, tough luck.

more than that last year this early in the summer??!?! i feel like 20 off the WL by 5/17 is a LOT...no?

The waitlist letter said they took "hardly anyone" off the waitlist last year while the year before they offered almost 150 people on the WL spots. (obviously many of them declined). I think 20 this early is a decent number of people. I know a few other schools have already started pulling from their waitlists as well.

Wait till after the second deposit deadline and I think we'll see more movement, ESPECIALLY once the T14 start pulling from their WL.

They have had my accept WL letter since the second week in March... here's hoping they go for seniority

Got my rejection yesterday. Auto-admit numbers. I didn't submit the Rothman app and sent a semi-forward email a bit ago asking when I would get a decision. Perhaps they didn't like that.

Anyhow, I'm not sure if any amount of money from USC could sway me from Mich scholly. Good luck to those still waiting/waitlisted.

they gave me a deposit deadline of May 24th. Admit packet in the mail, i'm in Chicago.

Was waitlisted in mid-March, sent the WL form in the next day with a followup email and phone call, 1 page LOCI in early-April, and short followup email on May 1st. If you are still waiting and its your top choice send a short LOCI stating that along with your up-to-date cell number and contact info.
