I'd be really surprised if you didn't get a full ride with those numbers. According to LSN, Miami hasn't given out anything less to anyone with at least a 170/ 3.0 for the last several years.

Got back to school today and found my acceptance package from Miami. When do we get scholarship info?

Hi!

Does anyone know how to check your admissions status at UMiami? The majority of other schools sent me links but I haven't gotten anything from UM. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Miami doesn't have a status checker for this cycle. I only got an email acknowledging that they received my application from LSAC and then the acceptance package in the mail.

Hi -

Did you receive an 'application complete' email or just the initial, application received email?

I never received an application complete email before I got accepted. I also emailed them regarding this and never got an answer.

No. I definitely was expecting to receive an app complete email so it was quite a surprise to get the packet in the mail when I returned from break. I did not email them about it like the poster above me though. I'm also applying to UNC which has a very serious "don't call us, we'll call you" mentality so I have avoided contacting admissions offices without a clear problem. But that's just me :)

So I called back today and spoke with a different admissions lady. (I've been talking to this one a few times a week since I applied. She's very nice.) She told me that I'm IN and should be hearing about scholarships within the next few weeks!! YAY!

I spoke to the admissions office today who assured me that my application is complete. However, I never received any emails from UMiami, not even one telling me that they had received my application.

I didn't receive a confirmation email either. My acceptance letter just showed up one day in the mail. Only email I did receive from them was notifying me I was awarded a scholarship.

I read through this --LinkRemoved-- and it says that Miami averages LSAT scores. The article is from 2005 so is that outdated already? Do they take the highest now?

So what's the deal with those full tuition named awards? Do they offer them to 15 applicants or is it 15 that are actually used, in which case it would be offered to much more than 15 students? Did anyone on TLS receive one last cycle?

Does anyone have any experience negotiating with UM? In other words, would it work/be proper for me to call admissions and say (with more flowery language than this), "If you give me the 23k/yr scholly, I'll put my seat deposit down today. If not, I'm withdrawing."

Because, really, that's sort of how I feel.

You really have to wait until much later to start negotiating... The reason you can negotiate is because they offered people money and they withdrew... Most applicants haven't even gotten a decision yet, let alone withdrew.

Received a full tuition scholarship at the U today! I was told that it was mailed out and I should be getting the packet next week. Everyone at the law school was really friendly and extremely helpful. I also met the dean which was pretty cool.

yes 3.2 : ( I plan on trying to negotiate that down but will probably wait till march or April when I have other offers. Also, this is not one of the names scholarships. UM offers the 2/3, a full, and the named (full + free llm + 1000 for books). I was told that I still may get one of those and getting a scholarship now has nothing to do with that.

I believe that the full plus 1000/year stipend has no GPA stipulation apart from good standing
