Re: In at UMiami
Hey guys,
I'm heading down to Florida tomorrow for a couple of weeks and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for bars/clubs to go to in Miami (especially South Beach). This will be my first time experiencing the nightlife in Miami so any suggestions help. I'm a 22 year old male if that means anything.
Also, if anyone has any experience with places in the Naples area that would be helpful.

Thanks. I started using it years ago I think initially for a free trial of an AOL dial-up account and I only went with nitchslapped because sonofanitch was already taken.trialjunky wrote:I am amused by your s/nnitchslapped wrote:

This board has been really quiet. There are over 300 people on the 2013 miami law fb page, you would think more people would participate here... stop lurking everyone!

Did anyone find an apartment yet? I've been looking mainly at apartments in Coral Gables and Brickell.

i called admissions trying to see if i could figure out when we would hear something from the waitlist.... they said we could be waiting until two weeks before school starts. but the woman's tone of voice makes me believe we won't be hearing anything for awhile

Agreed! I'm already deposited at another school so if i don't hear back from them by early july i'll be withdrawing as well.dhg5004 wrote:i called last week and heard the same thing. i think i'll be withdrawing. there is NO way i would pick up and move to Miami 2 weeks before classes start. noooo way.goflmarlins wrote:i called admissions trying to see if i could figure out when we would hear something from the waitlist.... they said we could be waiting until two weeks before school starts. but the woman's tone of voice makes me believe we won't be hearing anything for awhile

hard to say. I didn't get into Cardozo/Temple (my two top schools) probably because I applied in MArch (i know stupid)trialjunky wrote:You going to retake and wait or enroll in a diff. school?dhg5004 wrote:i called last week and heard the same thing. i think i'll be withdrawing. there is NO way i would pick up and move to Miami 2 weeks before classes start. noooo way.goflmarlins wrote:i called admissions trying to see if i could figure out when we would hear something from the waitlist.... they said we could be waiting until two weeks before school starts. but the woman's tone of voice makes me believe we won't be hearing anything for awhile
I'm beginning to even question the law school idea in general. My LSAT wasn't high enough to get any considerable amount of money from a t2 school...just enough to get me into a couple. But I can't imagine paying full tuition for some of these schools....
I'm still waiting on Rutgers....still pending. I applied in April (lol)
But to be honest I think I'll either reapply to just a couple schools for next year or bag the law school idea and move to NYC and look for a job and then maybe pursue my MBA. I'm just beginning to be fearful of the fact that I could be 150k in debt in 3 years without any chance of finding a job I enjoy (that pays) and that doesn't work me into the ground (at 80hrs/week)
i have some thinking to do I guess.

I guess i'll have to bite the weather bullet and go to Oregon then! haha I just find it really inconvenient to have to pick up and move to a different state where i know no one within two weeks without even seeing the school or meeting with anyone.dhg5004 wrote:yeah chances are high they won't be letting anyone know until August 1st lol.momo_08 wrote:Agreed! Re: In at UMiami
I am on the same boat...
Waiting on Miami... but already paid the deposits on Hofstra in New York. Will be moving first week of August. Luckily, I have friends there and a place to live, but it's still a big move anyway.
Since I am from Miami, I am pretty excited about the prospect of leaving and starting somewhere new. My only worry is how much debt I will be in once I finish! I will probablly withdraw from Miami by the end of the month, if not sooner...
Good luck in Oregon!

"Currently it appears that we will not have to go to our wait list as more people have paid their full seat deposits than was expected. Over the next couple of months we will begin to release applicants from our wait list. I would recommend that you seriously consider making arrangements to attend one of the other law schools to which you have been admitted so that you have a sure bet of beginning your law studies this fall.
Sincerely,
Michael Goodnight
Assistant Dean of Admissions
University of Miami School of Law"
"Basically that is correct. I do not currently antcipate anyone being admitted from the wait list."
