Top Law Schools

Who here is looking at W&L next year? Anyone already have their heart set on Lexington? I know that whole full-scholarship nonsense a couple months ago turned a lot of people off, but hopefully that isn't deterring too many people.

I absolutely am, its my top choice, but I'm probably going to need some scholarship money.

Definitely one of my top/most realistic choices at the moment.

I would love to go there but am assuming I will be waitlisted.

Got a fee waiver, so I have nothing to lose.

definitely considering it... i know a lot of people who went there for undergrad and loved it

I've been considering it too, but only because of the app fee waiver. But now I see so many people are enthusiastic about the school, I'm intrigued. What do we know about its job placement? Lexington is small as hell, so obviously there's no legal market. Does anyone know where most W&L grads go, and how well they place?

There's some good info in the W&L profile here on TLS. Mostly SE region (Charlotte, DC, VA, and I'm guessing probably Atlanta and maybe as far north at Philly[?]) Everything I've read and heard tells me that it's an awesome place to study and places grads really well. I really hadn't given it much thought before, either, but I would be more than happy to make it my home for 3 years.

It's one of my top picks too. I visited there about two weeks ago and everyone was extremely nice, including the assistant dean of admissions. I know a lot of people are turned off because of its location, but it does seem to place extremely well and from what I've seen the small student size allows for great professor interaction and accessibility. What's the campus like? Extra small? What's the condition of the buildings? And the gym? I would like to make a trip there to scope it sometime soon.

Also, the numerical credentials of their incoming classes appear to have declined (2006 (LinkRemoved)), while their acceptance rate has gone up.

I'm mostly concerned with the town's population of 6.8k people.

I'm worried about any school posting less than 90% "at graduation" employment. Employability is going to be one the strongest, if not the primary, factors in deciding which school to attend.

Yeah. Having to wait 6-9 months to find a job automatically wipes out the $60k scholarship advantage any school offers.
