In honor of my completed application yesterday, I thought this would be a good place to start the wait. Who's with me?

Haha, weird how things like that come about. Berkeley is my "realistic" dream school. It's kind of funny for me because in high school I had to write an essay about a school I'd like to go to and I chose Berkeley, knowing there was no way in hades I was going to make it in. But now, it could actually happen!!!triplecats wrote:Top choice? One of them?
I have a soft spot for Berkeley, despite the California economic doom/gloom. They were the first law school I decided I really wanted to go to; a few years ago I was still thinking grad school, but came across Berkeley's website somehow and thought "this would be a really nice place if the PhD doesn't seem like it's working out for me." Then a few years went by, I took the LSAT, and I actually had a shot at Boalt to my complete surprise. It would be kind of funny if I ended up there after all that.
I'm in the same boat. Stanford #1, Berkeley #1A (barring unrealistic HY acceptance)protokurios wrote:The school across the bay is my top choice, but I love Nor Cal, so if I get in to Berkeley but not Stanford, then I will definitely be giving it a hard look. One of the reasons is that Berkeley has a really good LRAP.
Why do you think Stanford's admissions are more forgiving than Harvard's?crackberry wrote:I'm in the same boat. I also got that email. I hope that means we get decisions soon (but I don't think the come out until mid november).nateDgr8 wrote:Just got the "Application Under Review" email. Too bad I have no chance with their high GPA obsession...
THEIR LRAP ROCKS, MAAAAAN!triplecats wrote:I just got the "Complete" email. However, I did not submit my complete app til 10/15... nonetheless, a decision before Thanksgiving would be wonderful. It would give me a few months to figure out how to make Berkeley a (financial) reality...
Because I have a high GPA with a (by TLS standards) mediocre LSAT and Stanford seems to care more about GPA than Harvard, which is, it seems, an LSAT whore. Plus I went to Stanford UG and we're like a family out here. I don't expect to get in to Stanford, but I think my chances are better there than at Harvard or Yale. And I'd pick Stanford over either of those schools anyway given the choice. That said, I really do love Berkeley too.Fevsi wrote:Why do you think Stanford's admissions are more forgiving than Harvard's?crackberry wrote:I'm in the same boat. Welcome to the thread! Sit down, tell us about why you enjoy Berkeley. And please tell Gandalf to return my last call.bilbobaggins wrote:Good luck people.
My stats didn't indicate an acceptance and I got one. I can't think of a school I'd rather be at.
Mine too . . . anyone know what kind of timeframe until notification that creates . . . the status checker says they notify as soon as a decision is made on a rolling basis I assume . . . is that true, or do they in practice really wait until Dec/Jan?xanderdellus wrote:Got the "Under review" today! here's hoping and good luck to all.

Some of my friends have vowed never to speak to me again if I emulate Benedict Arnold by going to Boalt. Wouldn't go there over Stanford though, for what that's worth.im_blue wrote:Give 'em the Axe!
