This feels a lot like waiting for an LSAT score. I have been more nervous in the last six months than I ever have been in my life.

My LSAT is also way below their median and my GPA is way above the 75th percentile.
Based on last year's thread, the Held for Further Review essentially amounts to a waitlist.

I'm making an educated guess that 1/26 are admits and 1/27 are rejects (and obviously those on hold have already got their message).

do we have any stats, or even anecdotal evidence from last year's thread to back that up? I mean, I like the theory, I was 1/26, but I am just wondering what your reasoning is.

Nope, no anecdotal evidence, but if you flip a few pages back, most people whose statuses changed on the 26th self-identify above SMU's medians, and those on the 27th talk about how SMU is a reach...

Again, purely speculation.

who knows? last year, the Wednesday people who got changes were applying to PT, so that group thought it had more to do with the chosen program than with the decision that would be made.

I'm ED and went complete 1/27. Now I'm at decision rendered 1/28. Does that mean I'm done for?

Your current status has changed to "Held for Further Review." Although your application has been reviewwed, we have deferred making a final decision until we are able to review at least some of the regular decision applications. Your file will go through another review cycle later this Spring and you will be notified of a final decision by the end of April. We are unable to release decisions by phone or email. All final decisions will be mailed.
This is what happened to my status checker last cycle (complete with "reviewwed"). I applied ED and, obviously, was bumped to RD. This is NOT a waitlist. If SMU is doing things like they have the past few years, they give out acceptances in waves (and eventually denials with them). Check out the old SMU topic from last cycle--a lot of the waiting and agony is expressed well in that topic ...

Still at App Received. Guess they are waiting for Feb. too (I hope so because I just owned my latest PT :)).

Held for further review. I guess that means I'm in the RD group. Does anyone know when they are supposed to start informing RD?

Who here is set on SMU? That is, if accepted who is 100% going to attend this fall?

For me, it is going to be a very close choice between SMU and UH, assuming i get in at SMU. It might come down to COL.

me, if i get enough money to bring the tuition down to UT costs. not that i'm getting into UT, but 30k a year is the most I will pay for school.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
