Not to be the bearer of bad news, but 171 is actually just below CLS' median (172). Either way, right at or just below median LSAT and sub-25% GPA isn't a great place to be for such a numbers driven school. I do think you've still got a fighting chance, just not a particularly great one.rockchalk86 wrote:I only just became aware of the index system. I have between 4.1-4.2. Is that at least a decent index? My lsat is median and Im just under their 25% GPA.

I knew going in that my chances were not great but you never know unless you try. Plus I already have two top 10's under my belt so I am not incredibly worried about my situation. Colombia would be nice though!AngryAvocado wrote:Not to be the bearer of bad news, but 171 is actually just below CLS' median (172). Yeah, I'm fighting uphill with my ~4.1 index (I think?), but at least my LSAT is 3 points above median. Expecting WL -->out.

Yeah, I distinctly remember your numbers as you were the only person with a relatively low GPA (like mine) to be automatically put on Duke's PT as far as I know. I was hoping I'd get the same treatment, but no luckrockchalk86 wrote:I knew going in that my chances were not great but you never know unless you try. Either way, like you said, you're already in some great schools so not much to worry about.

I'm hoping not 'til next week. Maybe an every Tuesday sort of thing. Planning on visiting elsewhere this weekend, and I don't want it to be either a) a sad visit or b) a pointless visit.

This guy's claiming an RD acceptance...? (Of course, he's also claiming that Yale rejected him before thanksgiving...hmm...)
Am I missing something here? Trying not to get excited about early RD acceptances this year....

That guy has a really overinflated impression of what 175/3.74 will get him. Out at Yale and In at Harvard seems about right. Stanford looks like a tossup. I don't think he's going to get the full ride he's looking for from many in the top 10.babaghanouj wrote:http://lawschoolnumbers.com/daninreallife

question, now that index talk seems to be all the rage: will a 4.65 give me any shot at butler/hamilton or should I simply be happy with an acceptance?

Re: Columbia 2010
I don't know exactly what your numbers are, but it seems a good rule of thumb for those scholarships is whether or not you're going to get into HYS. Playing with LSP, I plugged in 177 and 3.9 to get to around 4.64. Looks like a pretty good shot at big money from CLS.GargamelITT wrote:question, now that index talk seems to be all the rage: will a 4.65 give me any shot at butler/hamilton or should I simply be happy with an acceptance?

Where are people looking at for the index thing? The admissions index page has 3 numbers, xLSAT, xGPA, and a Constant thing.

If you look at the report LSAC sent to Columbia, you will see the rounded version of your index. If you plug your numbers into LSP, your index will show up under "score."hoopsguy6 wrote:Where are people looking at for the index thing? The numbers you found show how to calculate the index yourself. You multiply your LSAT and GPA both those numbers, add them up, then add the constant.

Re: Columbia 2010
i just got mine from LSP. you can find it on your LSAC report too but that'll be rounded off a bit so probably less precisehoopsguy6 wrote:Where are people looking at for the index thing? The admissions index page has 3 numbers, xLSAT, xGPA, and a Constant thing.
edit: beaten to the punch but yeah, that's the idea

Thanks! It's interesting, but most people should know where they stand by their LSAT/GPA combo already.LieutKaffee wrote:If you look at the report LSAC sent to Columbia, you will see the rounded version of your index. Anyone of you Columbia crazies want to give me the idiot's guide to the Columbia Index (aka what it has seemed to indicate in the past, what's what, etc.)
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
