So they're sending Holds and Waitlists both? That seems strange...

Where do I send my materials? Direct to Columbia admissions office?

I ain't goin' down without a fight. This is my number one we're talking about.
I snail-mailed a LOCI directly to the admissions office, ATTN: Dean Iwerebon. Good luck!
I just got held today too. Has anyone sent additional materials to them via e-mail? I'd prefer that way (sending a PDF to ensure formatting, etc.), but after I was held at Harvard I heard they don't accept e-mailed files. Is Columbia the same way?

edit: complete 12/02, btw

Do any of you, who have heard back in the last couple days, live on the west coast?

Also on "hold"... got the letter today.

Does anyone know if they accept the additional materials via email?

Held today! I'm liking NYU more anyway, they got back to me super fast! Playing hard to get doesn't always work Columbia, sometimes we need a girl who crawls into bed on the first date...

Got the hold (Reserve group) letter today... I know its probably been asked many times but can someone tell me if this is the same as the WL @ Columbia, or are they different groups? Thanks!

Wondering why the hell Columbia is taking so long to get back to me with my inevitable WL/rejection. I applied in mid-October and figured I would have heard by now. Do they wait until the very end for a wave of WL's and rejections or something?

Hold and reserve are different. Reserve is a waitlist. Hold is, "We'll look at your file again later; no decision has been made."

April 21 at the latest, apparently. It definitely seems like Columbia uses the "hold" pretty rampantly compared to other schools.

I got waitlisted/put on "reserve" today.

Any idea why they hold vs waitlist? This isn't a bad outcome for me, gives me a chance to take the June LSAT if I don't get into Berkeley. I'm a tiny bit below both medians, I figure 2 more LSAT points would do the trick.

So does that more or less mean that I'm out? Any chance a LOCI might help me?

Are these hold messages sent by email or snail mail?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
