Where does the SO live in LA? It's a big town. If it's like Westwood/West Hollywood/Marina del Rey, etc. I don't feel bad for you at all. If it's Pasadena/Studio City, etc. that's another story.

It's Malibu. I just meant I should've avoided actually saying that. No sympathy in the 'bu. Although I would much rather live in Westwood (or a number of other parts of LA).

If it helps, I am from probably the worst armpit of LA where you don't have to be on constant mugging alert. Fontana.
