Just so people know, they've already said they'll be starting ED acceptances next week, according to their Twitter feed. Those of us who are RD probably shouldn't start nailbiting until January.

Why do people keep saying this when there were clearly ED and RD acceptances in the 12/23 batch last year?

It's probably a combination of giving LSN a cursory glance, making some assumptions, and wanting to have something to say.

I'd say it's possible that some of the 12/23/08 people you're saying were RD were ED and didn't state it, if you're going by LSN alone. It may be foolish of me to take Dean Perry & whoever's in charge of the UChicagoLawApps twitter at their word, but I'd assume it's this post at AdmissionsDean and what they've posted to Twitter that lead people to keep saying this. It's what I'm going to trust anyway; gives me one less thing to worry about for another few weeks.

Some of them were Accepted -> Withdrew, hence, not ED.

Ah, I see. I'll admit I haven't looked that much at the dates for Chicago compared to some of the other schools I'm applying at, so that's my bad. As I said, I'm going to trust the admissions office when it comes to the dates rather than stress about it, especially since it's a reach for me.

They've stated that the number of ED apps are "up" this year, so I don't know how much last year's trend is relevant to this cycle.

Right there with you, but from even earlier in November. My application may not be as strong as yours, though based upon your description

Anyone else complete and not under review?

ED. Have been Under Review, last update 11/25. Still Under Review, but status update now changed to 12/16. Anyone else? Any ideas if this means anything?

+1. Maybe "decision pending" changes tomorrow w/ calls starting to go out? If not that, then they are just reviewing all the ED apps again before finalizing decisions that will go out early next week, like Dean Perry said. I'm hoping calls go out this week though.

If it meant decisions tomorrow, why wouldn't we all have moved to decision pending?

Latest from the UChicago Admissions Twitter:

"Finishing up our review of ED files. ED app volume is way up this year and we are very pleased with our strong ED applicant pool."

It changes to decision pending the day calls go out. Sometimes calls stretch over 2 or 3 days.

Although that should be cause for worry, I think my application is so unique that they would have come to the same decision (whatever that may be) no matter whether apps were up, down or flat.
