I don't know why Harvard is doing this, but it appears to me they are.$1.99 wrote:seeing how harvard has been inactive lately, should we expect a deluge of activity all at once soon?
Good luck to everyone btw.
Seems very logical

I have this impression that they mostly come on Thursdays, but I'm not sure where that notion came from, and it's definitely not a hard-and-fast rule.notanumber wrote:The answer seems to be "M-F before February 1st."CoaltoNewCastle wrote:Is there a particular day of the week when they tend to send JR1 emails? But, yeah, it feels like JR1s were "Every day of the work week until BenJ's UR date," and then never again

yeah mine was on thursday. I think the other two people on here who had jr1s in the last batch also got them on thursday (1/28). I'm actually relieved that Harvard's admissions have come almost to a grinding halt. It allows me to believe that I didn't get a jr2 last week because they are busy evaluating the whole applicant pool etc and that they don't just hate me.

I know where that notion came from: tomorrow's Thursday and we're all wishful. Re: Harvard 2010!
I did do some searching about but I found a lot of conflicting answers to this question, so I thought I'd bring it here to the Harvard experts. Please excuse if it's been answered three dozen times (I found three dozen different answers):
I have been UR for a couple of weeks now .... (status checker)
But I just got a 'complete' email today!
does this mean:
a) kiss your slim chances goodbye . your ding will arrive pronto (or not pronto. whatever.)
b) nothing
c) other (please explain ) _________________________________

I just got an e-mail that my application was complete, but have not had or been contacted about a JR-1. I thought you don't go complete until after the JR-1. Does that mean I'm rejected? If so, why wouldn't they just say so?

Re: Harvard 2010!
looking at last year on lsn, it looks like there won't really be any more movement in february at all. there were some decisions (acceptances) on 2/11 last year but then it skipped to 3/3.
i don't know whether interview e-mails were sent out during that period, but all of us, JR1s or not, may have a long wait.
maybe this year will be different with a new assistant dean at the helm?

but really, admissions have been MUCH slower during dec/jan this year than in any of the past years (countably different). JR is really shaking things up, so who knows, there could be a flood of acceptances next week!

i guess also that 2/11 last year is not so far from 2/15 although 2/15 is (barely) the third friday of this month whereas 2/11 was the second friday.
you know, i am kind of enjoying this speculation. i am not sure what this says about me....

BenJ I'd rather take your situation where you know that Harvard's silence is the reason for your wait over mine where a few people that went UR after me got JR1 emails.

If it's any consolation, herds and herds of people went UR after me but got JR1s before me. It took 40 days, which was a loooong time back in the heady days of fall '09.Sogui wrote:I know right? I do admit that it is comforting that no one UR after me has yet gotten a JR1, either. Still stressful, but comforting.

Same thing happened to me today. I just about had a heart attack when I saw that I got an email from Harvard Law. I was quite disappointed when I realized it was just a "your application is complete" email.democrattotheend wrote:I just got an e-mail that my application was complete, but have not had or been contacted about a JR-1. Wonder why it takes them so long to get these out, I've been under review for over a week now.

Re: Harvard 2010!
Does anybody who has synthesized the data on LSN know if more people or fewer people have been accepted on LSN this cycle compared to this date last cycle?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
