What's the progression for Harvard apps---meaning, how long do I have to wait until they reject me? I just went under review today (submitted end of Dec).

this is so credited. i think being able to name specific things that you've got a particular interest in would do you a ton of good.

Re: Harvard 2010!
LOL. Well, a borderline candidate who gets in might not get a JR1 until March, then a JR2 possibly as late as April. A borderline candidate who does not get in probably has to wait until at least March anyway, maybe April if they get a JR1 first and then get rejected/waitlisted. A candidate with both numbers significantly below medians will be rejected within a few weeks. A candidate with one number above 75th and the other around median or significantly above will get a JR1 within a few weeks and a JR2 within a week or two from then.legalnoeagle wrote:What's the progression for Harvard apps---meaning, how long do I have to wait until they reject me? Zara, you applied on the 6th, when did you go complete?Zara wrote:good luck! mine's scheduled for tuesday. anyone have any advice for us?clyde_barrow wrote:jr1 scheduled for next wed.. can't wait to chat it up w/ josh
I applied on December 22nd but it took them a full month for me to go "under review" on January 22nd.
I still haven't gotten a "complete" email from Harvard and now I see peeps like Zara claiming they applied on the bloody 6th and already have their JR1 scheduled.

I never got a complete email. I went UR on the 25th and got the email about the interview today. I don't know why it was so fast, but I hope you hear soon. I didn't get the complete email until the day after the interview. In a sense, the application isn't "complete" until the interview is added to your file.Zara wrote:I never got a complete email. So if you don't get a complete, and only an "Under Review" until March, does it mean that you still have a chance?BenJ wrote:LOL. Is getting the "Complete Email" with no JR1, a sign of the inevitable rejection?

Re: Harvard 2010!
Sorry, when I say "Complete" I meant "Under Review"
I thought I was O.K. when I went UR on the 22nd and hadn't heard from JR yet. Yet you applied 2 weeks after me, went under review only 3 days after me, and heard back for your interview within 3 bloody days?
I went from stress-free to nail-biting over my application now. Either I'm on my way to ding-town or you did something to get your application on the "fast track".
Either way I'm sitting right on the "bright line" of 2008-2009 accepts/waitlists for Harvard, god knows it's going to be even harder this year. I wouldn't be totally dejected if Harvard rejected me down the line after JR1 (well it would suck waiting for the JR2) but after being an underachiever my whole life I would be happy if Harvard would at least consider me worth talking to.

chill, my numbers are way below yours (not URM), yet my received --> completion date is about the same. (Jan. 4th received, Jan 25th UR). i think it might just have something to do with the batch based on the "received date". who knows?Sogui wrote:Sorry, when I say "Complete" I meant "Under Review"

Zara should post her numbers, as I bet she has an outstanding application to get fast-tracked like that .
Something similar happened to this guy in November I believe: http://lawschoolnumbers.com/TheDan/jd

I got the complete email shortly after being contacted about a JR1, but before it actually happened. I don't think there's standard timing on this. Just need to roll with the punches.managamy wrote: I didn't get the complete email until the day after the interview. Haven't heard anything, if you're referring to people who did Sept and Dec of 09.leftofthedial wrote:Any word on multiple LSAT folks getting in yet?
I used to think we were "late" but the more I think about it, I think it's the unusual (and lucky) ones who have already heard back.

Crackberry founded a non-profit in DC. I very much doubt his numbers are representative of people who get accepted into Stanford.crackberry wrote:Based on my cycle, I am convinced that no school averages LSAT scores. That said, even my high score is below Harvard's 25th so who knows.
BTW, whats a hold? Im not applying for this cycle but next.

Re: Harvard 2010!
Yea I'm not so worried about the differences in our application sent --> application under review time gap. It can be explained by the holidays, snail mail from the LSAC, etc... it was only the "big picture" that someone who applied two weeks after me was getting their JR1.jeeli wrote:chill, my numbers are way below yours (not URM), yet my received --> completion date is about the same. I read Zara's profile (sorry for the stalking, but you're the only one who I've heard get their JR1 with a U.R. date that was AFTER mine) and he says he has a 172/4.0. He sounds like he has some great experience and worked abroad, but he's not URM. I have NO IDEA how common it is for such a "discrepancy" to appear. If the JR1's are first-come first-serve then I'm already ding'd... all I know is that at some point they had my application sitting there, someone took a look at it for this latest batch of JR1s and said "maybe/no" and put me off for a while longer. Zara might have an amazing application, and there are some hints that he/she might have one... but the numbers alone would not explain any "fast-tracking" when me and that guy with the 178/3.8 are still sitting on our hands.
When I spin it in my head it sounds like nothing good.

They're not always first-come first-served. Chill out. Think for a moment about how many pieces of paper make their way through this office and how many different people are involved in looking at and sorting through those pieces of paper.

Re: Harvard 2010!
Yeah I agree with nattybro, I wouldn't worry yet Sogui... your numbers are very competitive for H, and further the dates/timing for JR1 don't follow any set pattern. I was worrying too about other people around or after my review date getting JR1's before me, then mine came about 1~2 weeks later... pretty sure they don't have some standardized process for determining who gets one first.Sogui wrote:Yea I'm not so worried about the differences in our application sent --> application under review time gap. Chill OUT!! You act like the PS and LORs add nothing to the application... bottom line: you need to just chill and not buy into this whole "numbers game" theory. TLS pushes it way too much. You need decent stats but there's bound to be people with appealing applications. You need to accept some of them catch the adcomm's eyes for whatever reason. Wait and chill. You're making me nervous and I don't even have a shot anymoreSogui wrote:Zara might have an amazing application, and there are some hints that he/she might have one... but the numbers alone would not explain any "fast-tracking" when me and that guy with the 178/3.8 are still sitting on our hands.
