Me too...not a word. I thought maybe I'd squeeze out a waitlist, but now I'm thinking ding.
Me three. Although I'm still hoping to squeeze out a waitlist.
So here's a question I've wanted to ask for a while: why do people always claim to want to get on a waitlist? How many people does Harvard really accept off the waitlist in a given year? 5? 10? So are people really saying, "I hope to get on a waitlist in hopes that I will then be one of the very very few selected off of it."?
Or maybe it's an honor just to be on Harvard's waitlist?

No. It's more like.. "Hey, at least I didn't get rejected."

Getting on the waitlist gives you the opportunity to say no to them before they say no to you. It's like quitting before you're fired; so much easier to say to your friends. :D

No, it means I still have a chance to get in (at least, that's how I feel about it).

Eh, I still hope I just accepted. I just think a waitlist is more likely than an acceptance if they've had your file for 2+ months. If I do get on the waitlist, I have another letter of rec waiting, I've published two things in the meantime, and I raised my GPA 3.89-3.91 so I'll attempt a killer LOCI.

A short story and my senior thesis both got the go-ahead in the last month or so.

Cool! I pictured you as the creative-writing type. What was your thesis?

Since I haven't done anything horribly offensive on these boards and didn't show off any wit on my law school apps (not to mention I'm flying my CU avatar) I figure I can just go ahead and give my identity away completely: thesis is on the African-American sermon and it's connections to West African performance for power as seen through Jeremiah Wright.

P.S. Dean Faye, Stanford remains my #1 choice unless Asha wants to fight you for it.

Wow, sounds really interesting. I figure that my own identity is long-since blown for Admissions Officers and other interested parties who are perusing these threads. Who is Asha?

Yeah, not many 4.1 GPA people from Stanford floating around here. Asha is the Dean of Admissions at Yale.

P.S. But serious Dean Deal, I'd never pick Yale over Stanford.

+1 And the following might sound mean, but I honestly don't mean it in a mean way: Your thesis sounds like something that LSAC would excerpt for a RC passage.

Is your thesis being published as an article in a journal? If so, you definitely want to tell schools about that.

Me. I've pretty much abandoned any hope of a JR1 at this point, not that I had much to begin with.

Haha. Yeah, it might make for a good RC passage. It's going to be published in an African-American Religious Studes scholarly journal, albeit in a much shorter form (25pgs rather than 80pgs). I don't know whether to send a LOCI before I get a decision from places like Harvard, Stanford, and Yale though. I think it might seem strange if I randomly send them a LOCI without hearing a peep from them.

I'm still hanging around with a 3.9X/175, UR since 10/22, no JR1....

I wouldn't send a LOCI until you actually receive a notification of being placed on the waitlist. You don't want them to think, "He's already acting as though he's on the WL rather than thinking that he might be admitted. Obviously, even he isn't quite convinced that he's a strong applicant for us. Maybe we should shift him from the WL pile to the you-know-whats."

Just my opinion though. I certainly don't claim to be in their minds.

Ive seen that a handful of the JR1 no JR2 groups are low LSAT/ Low GPA. I had a JR1 last week no JR2 yesterday, 175 4.0. The thing is though I have a non traditional undergrad degree. Whats interesting is if thats what the issue was, why do you think I got a JR1?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
