I am going, driving up from Florida. Raleigh is ridiculous to fly into for some reason.

I highly doubt they are going to adjust the amount for anyone, unless hardly anyone registers for the ASW. They reduced the amount of the stipend by almost half from last year, suggesting to me that they have less $$ budgeted for this sort of thing this year.

Not me. If you don't mind, will you let me know when you're DR?

Really? I just looked through LSN and only saw this: http://lawschoolnumbers.com/Affirmed

So it looks like one person got one. It's a rolling process though. You set up an interview date then after you leave they have a pow-wow to determine whether or not they think you're Mordecai worthy. So they basically give out scholarships based on interview dates.

I also am pretty sure the invite process is rolling as well, but I don't know for sure.

I meant invitations, too. Here is one, for instance:

Don't have the energy to search for more but I seem to remember 3-4 from this cycle.

Got it! I thought you just meant the actual scholarship. I'm pretty sure the invites are rolling too :)

Do you have any idea if the stipend can only be used on airfare? I ask because I think the email specificlally mentioned airfare. However, I was looking into taking the Amtrak from Philly to Durham. Much cheaper. Do you think they'd reimburse that?

Here you go from the website:
We are pleased to offer a $150 travel subsidy to admitted students attending our Open House. The purpose of the subsidy is to help make the cost of travel more manageable so you can fully experience Duke Law, Durham and all of the information that our Open House has to offer. The program runs from 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by dinners and social events hosted by student groups, as well as an optional housing tour of Durham on Saturday. The travel subsidy is only available to admitted students who are able to experience the full program. Flights landing at the Raleigh-Durham airport RDU) after 8:30 a.m. on Friday and departing from RDU earlier than 7:30 p.m. on Friday would prohibit an admitted student from doing this and are therefore not eligible for reimbursement. In addition, itineraries that include stopovers in other cities (ONE DAY OR MORE), or flights that do not return to your home airport are not eligible for reimbursement.

Reimbursement Requirements

1. Complete the name and address sections (sections 1 and 3) of the Duke University Accounts Payable Check Request form included in your registration packet that you will receive at Open House.

2. For Air/Train Travel: Retain your receipts that show the price you paid and the itinerary. Also, keep your original boarding passes for both the inbound and return flights. Staple this to the Accounts Payable Check Request form.

3. For Car Travel: Write your full name, city of origin and actual miles driven to Duke (one-way) on a piece of paper. Mileage will be doubled for round-trips. Staple this to the Accounts Payable Check Request form.

4. Upon your return home, submit your completed Accounts Payable Check Request form and any required documentation as listed above to the Admissions Office.

Mail required form and documentation no later than April 21st to:

I know its a little early to be thinking about this, but it has to be in the back of everyone's mind: What law firms interview at Duke? I was looking through Cravath's website and noticed they interview at much of the t-14, with Duke being a glaring exception. Is this true for the rest of biglaw? Is there a way to see the list of firms that interviewed in 2009? Thanks.

Where do you find the lists of what firms interview at what schools? (or at least where do you find the Cravath list)? That could be really interesting, but I couldn't find anything in the last thirty four seconds on google.

Cravath website. I was looking through the FAQ on the summer employment section. They list the schools they will visit.

I tried and they rejected my withdrawal request because it was via email. I was about to send in my paper withdrawal but then I got the scholarship email so I decided to wait a few days. Either way, I can't see it being more than my UVA offer, so I will probably withdraw anyhow in a day or two, just a little curious.

There is this cool website that shows you where firms go for OCI. It also gives tons of demographic info on individual schools. Don't have the link though...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
