Because acceptances from waitlists usually happen sporadically, right? Or in Cornell's case, in one batch. But if EVERYONE is hearing from them tomorrow afternoon, it seems less personalized, you know?

I don't know, it's just what I automatically thought after reading all the responses about being able to call in for a decision tomorrow.

Maybe its naivety but from what I've been reading it sounds like there are a few spots left. If not...to quote someone from the "in at cornell" thread

Maybe I am overly optimistic, but I am with Tron on this one. There are still candidates who have yet to reviewed again, thus how could EVERYONE hear an answer tomorrow? Maybe everyone in the batch that went in for review this week will hear an answer tomorrow, but certainly not everyone else that remains on reserve.

Right, but no one's said anything about Cornell reaching out to us tomorrow afternoon. A few of us have been told we can reach out to THEM for the decision. Also, I called yesterday and no one told me to call tomorrow afternoon, so for all we know, those were told that were given information specific to their file.

Earlier this week, my application was not in review. I think I am a rare case. I am the only one on TLS who is not in review currently.

just spoke with a very nice woman over there.

my app is currently with the committee but they told me i'd probably get a decision within a couple of days (she did not say tomorrow, she said "probably by about tuesday").

Yeah, I just get the sense that they're going to accept however many spots they have after the last round + however many people jumped ship after the double deposit list, keep a small waitlist, then reject the rest. By this point, they probably assume that people that are accepted out of the reserve will attend. There may be a small amount that do not, but those spots should easily be filled by the summer WL group. As for how this will be communicated, I really have no idea.

I think you should call again. It just seems odd. I mean, you really do seem like the ONLY one on TLS not in review.

"All seats at cornell are currently full. reserve list applicants will either be rejected or waitlisted."

can't really reveal the source of the info but it is valid.

sorry

I think we'll have to be the judge of whether your proffered, anonymous information is valid. We'll have our decisions soon enough.

+1.

However it wouldn't surprise me if they are full. Remember Cornell prides itself on having a small class, and they may have made the 7 or so reserve offers last week anticipating the number of double deposits and the % of those 7 who would accept/reject their offer of admission. I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!!

This might be irrelevant, but I noticed the Cornell 2012 facebook group suddenly grew from 141 to 147 sometime mid-week... Maybe the reserve list acceptances put their deposits down and finally got an invite...or maybe there's been another batch of acceptances that we're unaware of. And if more than 6 people enrolled off reserve and the enrollment % is their standard, is it just me, or did they send over 20 acceptances to the reserve list earlier this month? That's a pretty substantial number, so maybe they did take these factors into account beforehand...

Anyway, does anybody know how they've sent out wait list notifications in the past? e-mail or snail mail?

Decision. On site. Can't be good. Or can it. Either way, looks like the finish line of the Cornell Reserve List Saga is coming into view... Goodbye purgatory! Heaven or hell I welcome thee!
