Dresden, any change?
Yup, a decision for me, too. 168, 3.99 FWIW. I'm betting it's either a WL or a rejection. I don't think they're sending out a round of acceptances.

I'm still surprised neither you nor I weren't asked to interview. Strange, eh? I wonder why they just routed us for a WL/rejection without even giving us that option first.

this might be a dumb questions but do they always do batch responses or are there ever mixed wl/accept/reject decisions?

I'm guessing those are people who went to decision 2/13 and got their letters yesterday/today. It's still too early for that many people to already have their mail, much less if ding letters were mailed yeterday.
Yes, I put decision date as 2/17 in LSN... checker changed on 2/13.

Ok on an unrelated topic some of you might find this ammusing.

So the girl I have been "talking" to is a retard.

I called her excited to tell her I got into Vanderbilt. Her response - "What is Vanderbilt?"

I was like Vanderbilt School of Law. She was like "OH Congrats, is that better than [Local Tier Four School]"

Then we get into an argument about [Local Tier Four School] being crap.

Lets just say I wont be talking to her anymore....
I guess that means you won't be talking to most of society anymore..

How is it a measure of "retardedness" whether or not someone knows about a particular top 20 law school?

This post was pretty retarded.

Close-minded snobs are populating law schools and what's worse is they think they're so enlightened.

Some people here..are in their own tiny little law school world..get over yourselves! *sigh*

DD, really interested to see where this lands for you. Pulling for you and everyone else who went to decision today, what an odd cycle.

oh you're not bursting my bubble....

...i am just curious if being non-pt might alter their method of contacting applicants because there are no longer time constraints to get back to us.

in the meantime, i will be checking my mail for a wl/ding

Doesn't Duke always email acceptances?

I don't think anyone really knows, at least for this cycle, because they JUST started doing any non-acceptances for non-PT people on Friday. And we can basically assume they aren't acceptances because those are emailed (PT and non PT) before the status checker goes to decision. We do know that rejections are snail mail because the 2/13 group has started getting them. The 2/17 group is probably a mix of WLs and Rs.

I'm sorry, DD! I just think this will bode well for you and Berekely!!

I am a 169/3.87 and in that 2/17 batch. It's hard to imagine a rejection. I'm betting we were waitlisted :(

They've mostly admitted PT people this cycle, which makes it seem as if they do. However, it's important to remember that PT people are promised their decisions in the time span of 10 days. Given that time constraint, an email would make sense; snail mail likely wouldn't arrive on time.

That said, I'm betting this is a round of WL.

Jdn, thanks for the well wishes! I'll post of the outcome as soon as I find out.

I'll roll the dice on a Duke waitlist--here's to hoping the 2/17 batch is not a pile of dings.
I agree that if they are outright rejecting 169/3.87s this cycle they must have some magic dust...I thought last year they ended up digging deep into thier waitlists??

I wonder if any information would be given out if someone called---

Like what does "you will hear soon" mean?

I'm the opposite of most of you guys, 175/3.44 and decision 2/17. Still probably adds up to a WL but I'd be pretty surprised if it was a rejection.

This sounds like a lot of WL numbers. Do they have an admitted students site to try?

Actually, it sounds like a lot of acceptance numbers, except that Duke is apparently trying to shoot itself in the face this cycle. This includes you too, SBL. An applicant with a 3.8 from a respectable, difficult institution like Boalt that's doing TFA? Give me a break. Don't tell me that TFA doesn't add at least 2 points to that perfectly decent 165 (which, btw, was their 25th percentile last year, so in no way out of the ballpark in and of itself).

This is insane.

i can't imagine Duke not accepting any <169 this cycle, could they really form a full class with only 169's and up?

If this is a WL, it seems as if the people in this group should be at the top of the list. Although I would probably wait for official letters for confirmation of what this decision group entails. A 169/3.87 being WL? I thought many 169's were PT and got in.

Can't imagine it either. Seems to be their intent, however. Maybe they will empty out their coffers to shower 170 plus people with money and get them to come that way? Maybe they figure that money will go a long way in this economy?

All I know is that I happened to apply there in one year where my app wasn't going to fly. Any other year a 168 with a 4.0 (or really, 3.7 and above) would have been set. What a bunch of lucky people we all are.

On LSN they have let in a few 168ers and below, and not all URM by any means...if it holds true to last year when apparently they dug into their waitlists quite a bit, it could just be Duke's MO to waitlist a LOT of people and see what shakes out in terms of interest...might be thier way of keeping their yield #s up.

No, I don't think it's possible for them to reject *every* sub-169. As dresden doll noted, 25% of their current 1L class has a 165 or lower. I really don't think they can raise their 25% mark by 4 or 5 points this quickly.

They did, however, recently reject some people with 167s and 168s, so I'm not confident that all of us who went to decision on 2/17 are getting in. I'm 166, 3.95, so why would they accept me when they just rejected a 167, 3.85?

so if i get wl'd at duke i should go ahead with my visit and not blow it off out of resentment?
