Ugh. I want to go to Iowa :) and officially join this goofy chat...for now I'll just comment from time to time and wish I was one of the cool kids :). Called admissions today and they said another week or so...wish me luck.

Evaluating my chances...

Pros:

Iowa resident
4 years as a Hawkeye (well...a lifetime as a Hawkeye, but 4 years at the University)
RA for 3 years
3.92 major gpa (Finance)

Cons:
3.18 LSAC gpa
average personal statement
weak references

Neutral:
161 LSAT

Anybody in with worse numbers? and anybody in that applied later on in the cycle?

Let me know what you think.

You're chances aren't great, but maybe okay for getting in off the waitlist?

That's probably not true for a resident. I'd say he's 50/50. If his GPA were higher, he'd be a no brainer.

Yes, please give us details if you don't mind. I would fall into "need based" so I am curious...

Trust me...you ARE NOT going to get a need-based scholarship worth much. They seldom give them out unless you're a URM in the same financial shape I'm in.

In with 155/3.42, but I have so many soft factors I'm not sure what to tell you about me.

You have hope.

Hi

Sorry to hijack this thread but i've been interested in Iowa for some time but am alittle weary about choosing the school if i should be admitted. I was admitted to Iowa a few years ago but decided to work while i had a good job and save up for LS. Iowa's peer and judicial/lawyer assessments have been through the roof over the past few years and are even better this year. Both assessments have them with UCLA, Notre Dame, etc.... Is the school really that respected? My goal is to work in a firm for a few years (10-15) then do PI in educational law. I really have no preference geographically and could see myself working in Chicago, Minneapolis, or Madison. Assuming im in the top 1/2 of the class (i know, a big assumption) how would my job prospects look. Is Iowa really seen as school in comparison to Notre Dame, WUSTL, etc... I know these are very abstract questions but as i'm not from the Iowa area i have no idea how the school is viewed in the midwest and would love some insights.

Thanks
