Just got my letter saying I've been placed on the "Preferred Waiting List." The letter says: "Applicants on the Preferred Waiting List are among those we would like to include in our first year class. These applicants have the strongest credentials of all waiting list candidates and, as a result, receive priority consideration if spaces become available." Is this actually different than the regular waitlist, or are they just trying to make it sound a little better?

It is definitely better to be on the preferred list. They send out "regular" waitlist letters as well. Good luck!

Sounds pretty straightforward...your application isn't in the best pile, but at least it's near the top of the one that's closest to where you want to be. It looks like you're in pretty good shape.

Now I'm much happier to know that I actually am "preferred" and it's not all the same thing, haha.

don't worry, not all the accepted kiddies will end up going, so at least some room will free up for the preferred waitlist.

Hopefully I'll get an answer sooner rather than later. The letter said they would be opening spots up until August...but I can't realistically wait until August to find out.

It's sinking in now that I'm near the top of the list at GEORGETOWN...so I'm getting much happier about this
