Generally speaking, you aren't going to avoid paying food, rent, utilities, and all that jazz unless you decide to hunker down in your parents' basement for the long haul or take to the woods doing only what you must to survive. As far as real world cost of living goes, you can't get much cheaper than Gainesville's. Half of the $27,452 is cost of living. Tuition is unbelievably low, given UF's rank. Just look at what the UC schools charge for in-state tuition. The University of South Carolina, ranked 87th, charges $5,000 more than UF for in-state tuition. Actually, I challenge you to find me any law school that charges significantly less than UF. As for the "but some schools cost less after scholarships" argument - what are those other schools ranked?
I agree with this guy. The only school I've come across that has a cheaper in-state tuition is the University of Tennessee (it's about 13,500). Even with that, I would argue that the value of a UF degree is much greater than one from UT-K. This is why I will probably be ending up in Gainseville.
