Just got an E-mail from HLS that they gave me a call but couldn’t reach me (international students). Is that a good sign?

Past couple of JS2 waves started in mid-December, but our JS1’s started early this year. I’m purely speculating out of boredom but I say either Dec 4 or Dec 11.
I know!!! I'd be madder if I hadn't gotten one though, lmao!

Amazing thank you! And congratulations to the others in this thread as well!

What is usually the deadline by when you have to accept the offer?

Checking in - I got in during the 2016-17 cycle and deferred two years to work, so I will be starting in the fall! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Question from my side regarding deferral as I am considering it for this cycle.

I already have 4 years of work experience (Consulting firm), but my company has offered to pay for a good part of my Harvard Tuition if I defer by a year to lead one of their bigger initiatives.

Any idea how Harvard may look at a deferral request from somebody who already has quite a bit of work experience? How much preparation goes into the deferral request?

Thanks!

Hey there! Great question. I can only speak for my own experience, and I was accepted as an undergraduate senior, so HLS granted me a deferral without me having any work experience at the time. That being said, they were super gracious about it throughout the process and seem to be willing to grant deferrals if there is a compelling reason. On the HLS website, it says, "We most commonly grant deferrals to students who wish to earn another degree or take advantage of an employment or service opportunity." (my emphasis added).

https://hls.harvard.edu/dept/jdadmissio ... /#faq-3-15

So, I would think that if you made your case to the admissions office, you would have a decent chance of getting a year. I really can't speak highly enough about how good the admissions office was about facilitating my deferral.

Went complete in Dec. 10th -ish. Still no interviews. Does that mean I am out? Are there gonna be more rounds of JS 1s?

Not in the slightest. Still multiple JS1s and JS2s left. Good luck!

I had my interview Monday. This late in the cycle any guesses how long before a ding or a phone all?

Now that I know how to keep track of decision waves, it seems there was on the 12th -- good news if I'm still standing? Some of them went complete after me.
