Re: Texas Law Class of 2021 Applicants (2017-2018 cycle)
Anyone planning to take the 2017 Dec LSAT and apply after they get that score back? I was hoping to apply ED with my Sept LSAT score, but it was not high enough for me to feel comfortable submitting my app. I just moved to Austin (my S.O. started the MBA program at McCombs) so UT is the only school I am going to be applying to, so I want to make sure 100% that I can get in!
TL;DR- if you're studying for the Dec LSAT and shooting for high 160's-170's, I'd love a study buddy.

Have they dropped fee waivers for Sept takers?

They may be running multiple waves (I'm a super-splitter), and you may be able to request one successfully even if they don't do it automatically. I'll definitely be requesting some from other schools who seem to have excluded my stats from their searches.AaronCarter wrote:wmbuff wrote:I got one yesterday as a Sept taker.AaronCarter wrote:Have they dropped fee waivers for Sept takers?

Important note for Texas residents - if you can prove residency, you will get a waiver if you solicit one.

One more application in. I'd love to attend UT, if the money works out.

I am, from the other side of the South, but I love Austin, and Texas generally. We'll see how the law school likes me.amta wrote:are you OOS?wmbuff wrote:One more application in. I'd love to attend UT, if the money works out.

Do y'all know how UT places for biglaw in Houston? I'm stuck between UT and CCN, because I know I want to work in Houston at a big firm doing patent work (I'm EE) but I don't know if my chances are better at UT or CCN.

I'm 0L too, so take this with a grain of salt, but it seems like Houston is the largest landing point for UT grads, and large percentage of Houston Biglaw firms are loaded with UT grads. However, CCN is rarely a bad idea, and will definitely get you back to Texas if you have ties.dallinpackard wrote:Do y'all know how UT places for biglaw in Houston? Would the fact that my wife and I both grew up in Houston be a tie? I mean, I don't have connections with the firms or anything, but Houston is home.

Does anybody know when ED decisions start to be released? I know they inform all ED candidates before new years, but am not sure how early they start to come out.

I think the first acceptances came back in the second week of November last year, so we are getting kind of close to it.

Have any OOS applicants received a Why Texas request? I heard they tend to ask non-Texans for them.

Their website states that ED applicants will be informed before the end of January.ebrook93 wrote:Does anybody know when ED decisions start to be released? I know they inform all ED candidates before new years, but am not sure how early they start to come out.
