i know we were talking about Ann Arbor the other day and there are sooooooooooooooooo many good places to get hash browns here. the best is Fleetwood Diner where you get the Hippie Hash which is a gloriously greasy combination of onions, peppers, broccoli, tomatoes, mushroom, and hashbrowns. i ususally get it with gyro meat and a side of eggs and you let the yolk run over it and it's borderline arousing.

There's nothing borderline about that at all.

Yeah but they justify a category unto themselves because they aren't just fried, they're combined with a batter and then fried--as opposed to hash browns, french fries, etc which are solely fried potatoes, albeit seasoned generally

Technically, you can bake latkes for a healthier alternative. I did it last year and they were still pretty bomb.
