I was recently admitted by email and mail, and offered both a generous scholarship and fellowship. Anyone else out there?

I'm from and work in Maine, and spent my 2L year at MaineLaw. The building is a dump, but it is a great atmosphere and student body. If you want to practice law in Maine, MaineLaw is the place for you. The Maine legal market is unique, and I would suggest doing research about Portland and other Maine firms if you are not already familiar with them. You are not going to make as much here as you will elsewhere, but the quality of life is pretty good.

Thanks. I am intent on working in Maine after law school so I think Maine Law would be a good choice. The ranking is difficult to stomach but I keep trying to convince myself that it doesn't matter given my desire to work in Portland.

Bit late to the party here, but I echo what was said above.

I graduated from Maine Law and currently work as an attorney in Maine. I get that the numbers don't stack up as well when compared to other schools, but honestly employers in Maine don't care about rankings. Admittedly, some larger firms tend to look to Harvard and Northeastern and BC for their associate recruits, but a lot of them quickly find that folks from those schools would rather make a lot more money in Boston (and subsequently work a lot more too).

Bottom line, if you want to stay in Maine, go to Maine Law. If you're not sure, then certainly weigh your options, as a Maine Law degree certainly doesn't hold as much clout. Hope that helps.
