I'm torn. I liked a couple other schools better, including the school I deposited at, but I also don't want to be stupid financially

If they would have offered a stipend on top of the full ride I think I would have gone, but I never sent a reconsideration email and withdrew last week.

That's interesting you didn't get the email after withdrawing. I just let the deadline pass without withdrawing.

I feel like it would be kinda weird to not honor someone's request to withdraw. Sort of clingy and bothersome. Not specifically for IU, but in general.em15 wrote:That's interesting you didn't get the email after withdrawing. I just let the deadline pass without withdrawing.

I withdrew from everywhere that asked for it. There were just a couple schools I didn't. I also made my decision very last second.

Oh I didn't mean you not withdrawing is weird! I meant it would be weird for a school to offer money to someone who withdrew.em15 wrote:I withdrew from everywhere that asked for it. There were just a couple schools I didn't. I also made my decision very last second.

Oh haha gotcha! Yeah, makes sense. I'm just surprised they don't view not depositing as the same thingchandhi wrote:Oh I didn't mean you not withdrawing is weird! Lol they probably just optimistically assumed people forgot? I feel like their yield isn't going well this year, and that honestly breaks my heart a little. I loved it there when I visited. People were so nice.em15 wrote:Oh haha gotcha! Yeah, makes sense. I'm just surprised they don't view not depositing as the same thingchandhi wrote:Oh I didn't mean you not withdrawing is weird! Illinois just sent me a similar email too, only they didn't offer more money haha. Definitely a bit desperate haha. I liked Indiana, but I didn't love it like I did other schools. I also think their distance from a large city might play a part?? I know I preferred OSU being in Columbus for instancechandhi wrote:Lol they probably just optimistically assumed people forgot? As someone who lives in a large city, I'm ready to get out ASAP, especially since I won't have an income during LS. I think it's kind of cool that IU is in a college town. It means the faculty and other students will be much more accessible after hours and for grabbing coffee and whatnot.em15 wrote:Illinois just sent me a similar email too, only they didn't offer more money haha. It's interesting that schools are ending up desperate this year. Most have been in no rush to get their decisions out. Applicants strike back haha.

Just got the email too. I'm wondering how binding signing a letter of intent to enroll is? I signed one at a different school, because I intend to enroll. And I'm happy with my choice, but a bump up to a full ride from Indiana might talk to me. Just don't want to risk real trouble from current school choice. Indiana didn't make the short list with their first offer.
I realize it's a dickish, dubiously ethical thing to ask. But still. Help me not be a dick/idiot in real life.

For real. If location had been my deciding factor in choosing school, I'd have ran to IU-B. Definitely had the best combo of city/campus of all the schools I visited.chandhi wrote:As someone who lives in a large city, I'm ready to get out ASAP, especially since I won't have an income during LS. I bit on the reconsideration e-mail. Went from $112,500 to $127,500 non-res (was $97,500 on acceptance). Definitely considerable bumps each time, but still a fair bit of room to reach the nearly $150,000 tuition total.
Also received a similar e-mail from Case Western. They went from $135,000 to $144,000 (was $129,000 to start). Also received e-mails from Ohio State and Illinois but no mention of money.
Will probably end up at Iowa or nowhere (I'm from Ohio, near Toledo).

Did Iowa give you money? They told me they were out but would have money available after their deposit deadline, but then when I emailed, they said they'd look into and never responded. You can PM me if you don't want that publicnot_stig wrote:I bit on the reconsideration e-mail. Went from $112,500 to $127,500 non-res (was $97,500 on acceptance).
