Yeah, I know it's mainly for OOS kids. I just feel like it might give my app that little extra nudge. I know there are people earlier in this thread who submitted unsolicited "Why Texas?" essays then got in. You should be fine.

Congrats! I do believe they do, but only for out of state, which sucks for people who live in El Paso or somewhere which may as well be another state!parkerlela wrote:Just got the call. Did your app status change to "under review"? I've heard some people say it doesn't I think but I wasn't sure

Yikes! I'll be coming from California- I'll email admissions and post what I hear about reimbursement/stipends.
My app status did not change until this morning after I got a congratulations email from admissions.

Normally, I look forward to the end of the day. Means I finally get off work. But now, it just means another day without hearing from UT. Had a dream I got admitted last nightray.bee wrote:Every day that I don't hear back from UT, I a little piece of me dies.

I caught myself thinking on Friday afternoon as I was leaving work "Damn... that's two more days that I'm not gonna hear back from UT."Tx878 wrote:Normally, I look forward to the end of the day. Submitted Dec. 6th, complete Dec. 7th, just got the call 30 min ago. I didn't submit a why Texas and I'm a reverse splitter K-JD from an SEC school. I am honestly SHOCKED I was admitted being as tight as they are with out of state admissions. I stopped checking my status checker because I automatically expected rejection.RC_Cola wrote:mind sharing timeline? did you submit a Why Tx?tsporl wrote:Just got the call! In from out of state!

Any idea how many more out-of-state slots there might be? I've been complete since mid-November and heard nothing since the Why Texas? request.

Just got a call from a 516 number. My heart almost stopped thinking it was a 512 and could potentially be UT.GorillaWarfare wrote:legallychels20 wrote:Submitted mid-Jan, so looks like I"ll have a brutal waiting period. I live in Austin and get calls from 512 numbers all the time. I die a little on the inside each time I answer & it's not UT. I'm sure the suspense will only get worse!Tx878 wrote:Just got a call from a 516 number.
