This may be the quietest and saddest of the c/o 2020 applicants threads.
Someone should call the Y admissions office and make sure they didn't forget about us.

Re: Yale c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Not sure if this is the appropriate thread, but if anyone could give any insights I would be super grateful. I initially was not planning to apply to Yale since my numbers were below all their 25 percentiles, but they've sent me a few personalized emails ( one was from a current student) so I'm feeling the pressure to apply. And while I can get most of the components together last minute, I don't know if my study abroad transcript will get in on time. Has anyone submitted a screenshot of their grades and have their application count as complete and then order the official one? That was what I did for Columbia and they were fine with it.
I'm honestly just trying to decide whether it would be worth it to put all thus effort in when I'm probs not gonna get in. If it gives any context, I called admissions and they were basically get the app in asap.

I wonder if the Twitter updates will continue when decisions are going out, or if the last Tweet update meant something along the lines of "the rest of the decisions will be released intermittently over email."

Do it. For me. So you can apply, get in, and free up a spot at Columbia.OhMyLaw wrote:Not sure if this is the appropriate thread, but if anyone could give any insights I would be super grateful. Predictions for when the next wave occurs? By this time last year, there was (generally) at least one wave per week.

Their deadline is 02/28 -- maybe it'll pickup after that?AnonHumanPerson123 wrote:Predictions for when the next wave occurs? By this time last year, there was (generally) at least one wave per week.

Assuming about 10 of those are deferrals, that would mean just about exactly half of their offers have been given (259 new offers were made last year). Also, that is pretty close to the number that was in the Facebook group on 2/22 last year that was reported earlier (121 in the group, 32 invited).xnsch wrote:108 members and 32 invitedruth0106 wrote:Can anyone give an updated number on how many people are in the admitted students fb group at this point?

Yea, tho some of the most recent additions were current students (for whatever reason). Can prob subtract about 20 between deferrals and ad coms and current students)AnonHumanPerson123 wrote:Assuming about 10 of those are deferrals, that would mean just about exactly half of their offers have been given (259 new offers were made last year). Do we have to fill out the financial aid documents before the March 15 deadline even if we haven't received a decision yet? And which documents?

Also wondering about this. I tried to access their financial aid application, but I was unable to, which makes me think we can't apply for finaid unless/until we're admitted.ohgosh wrote:Do we have to fill out the financial aid documents before the March 15 deadline even if we haven't received a decision yet? March 15 is the FAFSA deadline, but I'm not sure what would happen if you dont fill it out by march 15 and get admitted afterwardsKaziende wrote:Also wondering about this. The second doc, FAAST, can't be accessed until a few days after you're admitted

The latest acceptance given out last year was on 4/9, according to LSN (not counting any who may have gotten off of the waitlist).dinan15 wrote:What is the latest Yale gives out accepstances?

I had 3 typos in my application, and my professors had a few in my recommendation letters as well. I still got in (this cycle). Needless to say, they do evaluate you holistically.AllHailKingMao wrote:HELP!! I realized I have a small typo in my application!!! What can I do? Re: Yale c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
A weird question maybe, but does the quality of applicants go down later in the cycle?
I could see the early applicants being all really strong and competitive, that's why they got their shit together in November. in January and February, you get a lot of hail Mary's. "Hey, all i need is 100 bucks and 250 words" since everyone already has LOR's and a PS.
This means that even if YLS fills their class quickly, it's just the consequence of their pool being lopsided in terms of early applicants being superior, not them favoring early applicants. So it's not necessarily harder to get in if you apply late.
(Full disclosure:i'm a Feb applicant )
