fordham waitlist

Post by nellie06 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 5:08 pm

Found out I'm waitlisted by looking at the status checker...time for a loci :p do they mail a letter or simply send an email? I had an old email that I don't use on the app so I had to have my email info updated, and I was concerned I missed it if it was an email hold.

Wow. I *wish* I had the self-restraint to not have checked the status checker since before last Wednesday! Sorry about the WL.

It took Fordham THREE WEEKS to mail me the paperwork for the 2nd Evaluation...they are very, very slow. And the mail usually goes to your permanent address.

What's up peoples. My #'s were 3.2/160 (urm). I'm a little annoyed about the wl because I got into gw after only being complete for a month. I did have some good soft factors and a killer ps, and I thought it would help at fordham as well since they're pretty much rankings twins. Apparently not haha. I guess i'm gonna have to lean on fordham a bit and inform them of my acceptance to gw and how fordham would be a superior option. Plus i'm a lifelong ny resident, I went to ugrad in ny (cornell), and I want to practice in nyc (of course). It's all yield protection...fordham wants to be top 20 and it can't get there if people keep treating it like the volvo to cls's mercedes and nyu's bmw, and only taking it when the other two sexier nyc options falls through:P

Anyone else get annoyed you had to list where else you applied on the fordham app? Doesn't that scream 'protect this hoooooouse'! haha. (bad joke about yield protection)

How long did it take for you to get the wl letter? My status thing changed on 2/20 still no wl letter...I'm like an hr north of nyc...does it take them a while to get the letter out? And typos definitely are not kosher on a letter from a top 25 law school! Tsk, tsk! Fordham is my last option worth staying in nyc for (out at nyu and cls of course), so I'll give it a pass haha.

Waitlisted today. Man, that's weak. I didn't expect any WLs this cycle and I'm waitlisted for PT? I thought I would have had at least a solid shot for FT, but was denied there, and WL'd for PT now. I wonder if applying FT first hurt me.

This is awful but at least it isn't a denial again.

I don't get it; what's the basis for the assertion that Fordham yield protects? the fact that you got in to GW and not Fordham? This is not the first time I see that permutation. Besides, looking at your numbers alone compared with median numbers at Fordham does not suggest YP either.
# What are the median LSAT and GPA for admitted students?

Our most recent entering students had a median LSAT of a 166 and a GPA of a 3.66

Well the whole point of yp is to prevent people from being admitted who are likely to go to another law school. At least that's how I view yp. Gw is #22 after being top 20 for a couple years and is most likely headed there again. Fordham is #25 and clinging to that ranking for dear life. It's in fordham's best interest to make sure they keep that ranking or move up.

Why else would gw not ask me where else i applied on the app but fordham does? Seems like a logical conclusion to me. Fordham is simply trying to insure that the people who want to go to the school go. If i wasn't qualified i would have been rejected outright for f/t. I'm pretty sure if i write a good loci, i'd be let in off the wl.

Fordham is getting damn hard to get into. There are some people getting rejected from there, and deferred/accepted at Cornell.

Any proof? I find this interesting! Maybe my wl at fordham means i will be admitted at cornell haha :P

Isn't a thread full of people who are surprised to be waitlisted proof that Fordham's getting hard to get into?

Wl'ing everyone makes it seem more competitive. I was referring more to the fact that the previous post mentioned people getting into cornell possibly and not fordham. I just wonder how that would happen, considering the disparity in rankings.

I hear from a source on the inside that they're the safety of all safety schools in NYC, so considering this "application spread" thing going on, it's not surprising not many have been admitted yet, and many have been WLed.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
