Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Sorry to hear that man. I'm surprised you were interviewed and then not accepted. At least you're in at Duke already though, which is definitely comparable to UVA.zeglo wrote:Just got a straight denial email from UVA. It kinda hurts after interviewing, but I am mostly at peace with it since I got into Duke.
LSAT is 1 point below median, GPA is .01 above median. I am guessing it has to do with numbers and nothing else. Even though I was within range, it seems they want to pick up high LSATs, and if they give low LSATs, they want those people to have super-high GPAs.
It's a bit confusing why I didn't get waitlisted. Maybe that is due to the interview being weak or something..or just statistics. I am the 30% or whatever it is that doesn't get in in that range.

and yeah, I thought you would have been at least a WL for sure, especially since they value those high GPAs. odd.

Shit, that is pretty harsh. Sorry. Duke's great, at least you have that in the bag!zeglo wrote:Just got a straight denial email from UVA. It kinda hurts after interviewing, but I am mostly at peace with it since I got into Duke.

Exact verbiage was "sorry for the short notice, would like to do it tomorrow at XXXX, would that work for you? If not, what is your availability?"zeglo wrote:My interviewer gave me two time options, which were very soon. Update (15 Sept): Interviewed today. Extremely quick: (18 minutes). We mostly chatted, and there were only a couple 'real' questions. No idea how I did.
Also, there was no dress code in the e-mail, but my interviewer was in a suit/tie. No update to status checker (still under review).

I interviewed Thursday (9/15) morning and was accepted Thursday afternoon via email! LSAT at 75th, GPA between 25th and median.

Congratulations. I'm in the same neighborhood with stats, although I didn't interview until Thursday afternoon...so hopefully that's why I haven't heard anything yet.flyeaglesfly wrote:I interviewed Thursday (9/15) morning and was accepted Thursday afternoon via email! I have the same stats too, but I'm waiting to submit until after the September exam. Hopefully the wait doesn't bite me in the ass...CenterFringe wrote:Congratulations. Has anyone who got admitted already received any form of scholarship? I'm still waiting on my acceptance package/want to know if I could possibly expect anything.

I think one person said that they received an offer with their admissions packet, but the norm seems to be that they send that information out later this year / early next year.acz26 wrote:Has anyone who got admitted already received any form of scholarship? Current 1L popping in to give some advice. Charlottesville is a weird little town in the sense that housing is a nightmare if you start late. The best time to look at stuff and secure things is November - February. The places most people live are: Ivy Gardens, Pav, Arlington Court Condos, and Jeffersonian. Pav is super expensive and does not have great service, so avoid at all costs.SweetTort wrote:Anyone have insight on the best housing options at UVA?

I received a scholarship offer with my admissions package last week. Not sure how common that is.acz26 wrote:Has anyone who got admitted already received any form of scholarship? I'm still waiting on my acceptance package/want to know if I could possibly expect anything.
