In your defense, Lagos, Portugal isn't a huge city ---I've only ever heard of it because since I was living in Southern Spain, it was relatively easy to get there and was a very popular trip for my study abroad classmates. You should try surfing while you're there! so fun!theothercat wrote:Haha, yes, I meant Portugal. I actually didn't know their was a Lagos, Nigeria. Prague is absolutely incredible and in my opinion is very underrated. Goulash and liters of beer for the equivalent of $5 in hole-in-the-wall restaurants is something that I will always miss. I was there in the winter, so be glad you won't have to worry about icy cobblestones have a blast!theothercat wrote:As soon as I quit my job in June, I'm going on my first international trip. Thank you! I love to hear that. Prague is probably the destination I'm most excited about. It just seems like such a beautiful, unique city.jstans wrote:Prague is absolutely incredible and in my opinion is very underrated. The Czech Republic in general is just unique. If you have a chance to take a train out to the eastern Czech Republic (Brno, Olomouc, etc.) you can find some great little towns with historic squares that are full of history dating back to the HRE. Also the USD-Czech Koruna exchange rate makes the country very navigable.theothercat wrote:Thank you! I love to hear that. Prague is probably the destination I'm most excited about. Good to know! I'm super interested in the Czech Republic particularly because my great grandparents were Bohemian immigrants.jstans wrote:The Czech Republic in general is just unique. Also, I read The Unbearable Lightness of Being 2 years ago, and it made me really want to walk solemnly through the streets of Prague.

Lawyer family-friend doesn't understand that I will be 80k-90k in debt if I go to a school with a full ride. He didn't get a full ride when he graduated 30 yrs ago and only had 40k in debt. He's now like "why do you need a full ride?? How bad could sticker possibly be?"
Bro. Stfu. He then assured me, "I wouldn't worry about money, the debt will get paid eventually." What the hell, dude. Nah. It'll get paid with my tears.

Y'all, I am still waiting to hear from eight t14 schools with 3 admits, 2 rejections, and 1 held app in addition to T20 admits. I'm still waiting on all of my top choices, including schools where LSN gave me an ~80% shot.
Can someone calm me down, whisper softly that it is "all going to be okay," and point me in the direction of the nearest bar/ice cream shop?

That's what it feels like. Esp bc the school that gave me the $$$ was his alma mater and he just doesn't understand why I'd consider a t-10 with more debt but a great LRAP over a t-25 with a quarter of the debt but a... less stellar LRAP/placement/etc.dietcoke1 wrote:reminds me of thisS.Picquery wrote:Lawyer family-friend doesn't understand that I will be 80k-90k in debt if I go to a school with a full ride. End of December, so I went complete at the beginning of the year. Admittedly, three of those apps were submitted in late January. Meditating on the fact that time probably just seems slower from my perspective.S.Picquery wrote:When did you apply?mtf612 wrote:Y'all, I am still waiting to hear from eight t14 schools with 3 admits, 2 rejections, and 1 held app in addition to T20 admits. Lol if you're getting the same salary in BFE as you did in D.C. and your mother is your boss, and it's a N/P, I think you just committed a crime?dietcoke1 wrote:reminds me of thisS.Picquery wrote:Lawyer family-friend doesn't understand that I will be 80k-90k in debt if I go to a school with a full ride. In other news, I am legit praying that the wifi at the law school I choose will be better than that of my UG campus. I'd rather have dial-up than this wifi.

I've been using my campus' "guest" network all year because my university credentials haven't let me log in to the faster student network since last Spring. The IT department only tells me to try again whenever it doesn't work. On the bright side, my internet experience can surely only get better from here!Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:Oh god, I forgot how bad UG wifi was.
