Can anyone speculate about the possibility of more JS1 requests being sent out?!

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2019 Waitlist
It seems like the process can vary significantly from year to year. Last year the first wave of JS1s (about 40) went out mid May then JS2s late May. Then early June a second wave of JS1s (only 7) came with JS2s a couple weeks after. Then a round of cuts happened, then a few people got in one at a time sporadically throughout the summer up until late August. This year the first wave only had 18 JS1s, and a round of cuts immediately followed. I don't know if that means there is no second wave or not.trenhardeatclen wrote:Can anyone speculate about the possibility of more JS1 requests being sent out?!

Yeah, this cycle is quite different than last year. I couldn't imagine them not sending more JS1s though, since they left so many non-JS1 waitlisters on the waitlist...DanielE wrote:It seems like the process can vary significantly from year to year. Hey I'm just wondering, where did you get the number 18 from? I was under the impression that only 10 people were invited for a JS1 in the first wave this year.DanielE wrote:It seems like the process can vary significantly from year to year. There were 18 interview slots available, I thought that meant 18 JS1s were given out. Is that not the case?kalifornia wrote:18 slots open between May 18 and 19!

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2019 Waitlist
In the past interviewees could double up on slots because more than one person performs interviews, so the number of slots (at least earlier in the cycle) does not give an upper bound on the number of interviewsDanielE wrote:There were 18 interview slots available, I thought that meant 18 JS1s were given out. Using past cycles, predicting that we see more movement by the end of next week at the latest. Maybe some JS2s and likely another ding wave.

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2019 Waitlist
I was recently admitted to Upenn off the waitlist, and given information about a deposit and a commitment to matriculate form. I was wondering if anyone here who has been accepted and/or is attending Penn could tell me if signing that statement means withdrawing from other waitlists.
I am currently still waitlisted to Harvard, and I don't want to blow that opportunity if I do not have to. Please let me know if this is not the case, and if I can remain on the waitlist. I know some of you deposited at penn and remained on the waitlist, so something has to work

I'm pretty sure the language in the Penn form says that you need to withdraw from other schools you've been accepted to. You haven't been accepted to Harvard, so you don't need to withdrawlabergel wrote:I was recently admitted to Upenn off the waitlist, and given information about a deposit and a commitment to matriculate form. Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2019 Waitlist
The form states simply that I certify that I am committing to matriculate at upenn. I take it that it definitely means don't be deposited at other schools, but I just wanted to see if it included waitlists too with you guys. Thanks for the reply by the way. I want to be sure that I don't get into some sort of contractual issue with a top law school.kennethparcell wrote:I'm pretty sure the language in the Penn form says that you need to withdraw from other schools you've been accepted to. I'm pretty sure that the ABA won't let schools force you off of waitlists or make you withdraw applications unless you applied to a binding enrollment program. They can incentivize it, like Georgetown who waives the deposits if you commit 100%, but they can't make it mandatory as far as I know.labergel wrote:I was recently admitted to Upenn off the waitlist, and given information about a deposit and a commitment to matriculate form. That being said, I could be totally wrong, but I remember reading that on an admissions blog this time last year.

My Housing deposit is coming due at another school. Don't know if I can hang out much longer. How about a little movement Harvard.

Can't help but think that "movement" is basically over and that they have their class pretty much put together

Can only hope that's not the case the waitlist is still pretty packed up with people. You'd think if it was pretty much put together that the cuts would be more severe.theconsigliere wrote:Can't help but think that "movement" is basically over and that they have their class pretty much put together
