Penn State Dickinson and Penn State Law

*Please delete if duplicate. I could not find a Penn State thread for c/o 2019.

I need advice. I got into Dickinson with a full ride. However, I read a disturbing article about the splitting of the two campuses, and now I'm considering applying to Penn State Law, too. Are you applying to one or the other? Or both? Why? Any advice at all is appreciated here.

Hello! I applied to both law schools with a full ride to both. After visiting Dickinson again, I will probably be sending in my deposit soon. I feel that there is still some time needed to see how each school will now play out, considering they are now separately accredited. I see that Dickinson has higher LSAT scores while University Park has significantly more applicants. Time will tell, but I think Dickinson is a great choice.

Do you think we will get stuck in PA if we go to Dickinson? I was hoping to move out west at some point in time.. Every one at Dickinson has been truly wonderful to me. It is currently my top choice, too.

Good question. I don't think you'll be stuck, but it does appear to have better connections, etc within PA and is a regional school. As I wish to stay in PA (or very close), this really isn't a concern for me but I see your point.

I applied to both. Received full from UP and 34K from Dickinson(because I applied two months later), but I have been under the impression that the UP campus was getting the better half of the split.

Why do you guys think dickinson is better?

Also, yes you will most definitely be restricted to PA after law school barring any unicorn outcome.

I just got a better feel from Dickinson. I enjoyed the smaller town/smaller school feeling and felt that I made better connections with the professors and dean. The second visit there certainly impressed me.

Actually, I know two Penn State grads (c/o 2014) who are both employed here in Nevada. Most of their classmates have also been employed outside of PA. They did do all of their internships in the states they wanted to end up in, but they had no problem securing those positions either. It can be done, don't fall into the TLS fear.

TLS fear? You mean discussions on law schools here are seriously misleading?

UP has more applicants and it admitted more (seems triple of Dickinson?). Dickinson has higher LSATscores? Where did you get this idea?

From this idea: http://www.abarequireddisclosures.org/

Dickinson LSAT: 158-159-161
UP: 152-158-159

Dickinson admitted 373 while UP did 755

? Dickinson stats are even better than OSU Moritz (156-159-161)? But they are hardly peers schools.

Who do you email about negotiations? I want to see if they'll match my UP offer before I go to visit in two weeks.

Awesome, thanks. Do you think they'll be inclined to match the UP offer? It was about 6k less

My guess is yes. It depends how many people accept/decline their offers I think. They will get back to you pretty quickly.
