Got waitlisted twice today by Temple and University of San Diego, so I thought it was time to join the club...

And ouch, two in one day. I know that stings, but a waitlist offer is not a rejection so don't lose hope. Which one is your top choice (if either)?

I would take Temple if given the chance, but I am also not sure I could go to Temple or USD at sticker priceNavyhornguy wrote:Welcome!kwabedi wrote:Got waitlisted twice today by Temple and University of San Diego, so I thought it was time to join the club...

Got wait listed at my top choice, second choice, still waiting to hear from my third and fourth choices, and got waitlisted to my fifth choice. Depressing...especially since I was at the 75th percentile for LSAT for my second choice and below, and at median for my top choice.

I am sorry to hear that! What were the schools you were above 75th?bdb90 wrote:Got wait listed at my top choice, second choice, still waiting to hear from my third and fourth choices, and got waitlisted to my fifth choice. Is anyone else finding this concept of waiting to reach out to your WL school even worse than waiting for your initial decision? I actually miss when I didn't know I was on the WL. This is much worse. It's like an awkward dating situation where you want them to know you're very interested, but you don't want to freak them out or look desperate. I always sucked at dating.

I'm at that point where I basically just want to call admissions and be like, "look, let's cut the formalities. If you accept me right now, I'm coming. Let's just quit it with this wait a month bullcrap. We should totally be dating and you know it."gastronomy wrote:Haha, I totally know what you mean. I've planned out when I think it's appropriate to contact my WL school with a LOCI just so that I don't seem needy. Having to wait a while between LOCI's is somewhat painful.Navyhornguy wrote:Is anyone else finding this concept of waiting to reach out to your WL school even worse than waiting for your initial decision? Waitlisted at Cincinnati and Villanova. Hoping to get into Nova, but poor LSAT scores make it unlikely.
Don't know how to approach my LOCI? What strategies do you guys have? When do you think it is best to send it, and lastly, does it help to visit the school?

I've heard varying opinions on when to send a LOCI. I sent mine about a week after accepting the waitlist offer because I wanted them to know my interest right off the bat. I'm going to send another one in a few weeks. Each school is different though on what they will accept so make sure.acerqueira11 wrote:Waitlisted at Cincinnati and Villanova. A visit never hurts. If it's feasible and manageable, do it. Make sure the admissions office knows you're coming and check in with them.
The key I've heard at this point is to show you're seriously interested but not to bombard the admissions office with calls and emails. Try to space your contact with them out by 3-4 weeks at a time. Good luck!

Visiting is probably the most powerful way to show interest (aside from trying to slip the Dean of Admissions $500 in a greeting card, but that's another matter). But, please do the what navy says in advance. We are in the height of their season in terms of reading apps, doling out scholarship decisions, and preparing for ASW. They might not look kindly on a drop-in and you definitely don't want to leave a bad impression.Navyhornguy wrote:I've heard varying opinions on when to send a LOCI. Thank you! What exactly should I put in my LOCI and how long should it be? Is it just an email expressing my interest or is it an attached word doc.?

So is there any consensus on submitting a LOCI by email or snail mail? Have mine written for my top choice and want to do the "right" thing. Thanks!

Just email it. I would actually bet that any school these days would prefer an email over a mailed letter.BDMPKT wrote:So is there any consensus on submitting a LOCI by email or snail mail? Have mine written for my top choice and want to do the "right" thing. Thanks!

Explain how the school appeals to you. If it's your top choice, let them know that. I would mention specific things about the school that you are interested in (i.e. programs, specialties, organizations) so that they know that you have done your research. If the school's location is appealing or you have ties to that area, let them know that. It's also good to explain why the school is a good fit for you.acerqueira11 wrote:fliptrip wrote:Visiting is probably the most powerful way to show interest (aside from trying to slip the Dean of Admissions $500 in a greeting card, but that's another matter). I would recommend against restating a bunch of stuff in your application, because they already know all of that stuff. You are presenting new information that expresses a hearty interest in the school. A trusted friend told me that they want to know that if they call you, you are attending.
I sent mine as a PDF attachment in an email, because that's what their admissions office preferred.

Jokes on you- I've barely thought about any of this at all...which explains why I'm on the waitlist...Well, crap.lymenheimer wrote:You're overthinking it.BDMPKT wrote:So is there any consensus on submitting a LOCI by email or snail mail? You sound like me. I could tear my lungs out right now. 3/10 schools in, not a single acceptance. This would be hilarious if we all hadn't spent thousands of dollars just for LSAT/applications/LSAC.bdb90 wrote:Got wait listed at my top choice, second choice, still waiting to hear from my third and fourth choices, and got waitlisted to my fifth choice. I think this is great advice. If it's really your top choice it should be easy to give compelling reasons why you are a good fit and why you are so interested. I would add that you should try to keep it to a page or less, and reiterate that it should definitely be submitted via email.Navyhornguy wrote:Explain how the school appeals to you. Is anyone else finding that seeing people posting acceptances on your WL school's thread is like feeling tiny little daggers with each post? Just me? Lol.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for people but it's a bit discouraging. Thinking of feeling this way into the summer months is a pretty depressing thought.

Got waitlisted at my topchoice today :/ Feeling pretty depressed. I thought I was for sure going to get in but this is the 4th waitlist I'm on so it is getting overwhelming and frustrating.

Totally share the feeling. I think it's almost worse when people start talking about ASW and housing... It's so real for them and I'm just stuck in the pipe dream.Navyhornguy wrote:Is anyone else finding that seeing people posting acceptances on your WL school's thread is like feeling tiny little daggers with each post?
