Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
So I am very familiar with the laws schools and am very confident I'd be happy at either (I've also visited the city) but I haven't taken an "official" tour of either law school. So my question isn't really about if I'd be happy there, but since law schools obviously know when you take an official tour (usually you sign in) and consider it when accepting off the waitlist, I was wondering if June is a bad time to take an official tour.
*I live very far from these schools
Thanks so much I hope this post is a little more specific.

For those of you who have already visited schools on your waitlist, or have a solid plan to do so, what is your strategy?
Who do you let know that you are coming to vist?
What sort of things do you do / say / ask?
Looking to bounce some ideas.

I registered for an official visit and sat in on a class through the admissions office website. Doing it that way gives them an official record of your being there.conztance wrote:For those of you who have already visited schools on your waitlist, or have a solid plan to do so, what is your strategy?

This. Not only is it super cool and useful in your own decision to have seen a real class in action, but you also get the chance to meet a professor in addition to whoever is in admissions that day. Just be as friendly, polite, and gracious as possible with every person you meet and take every opportunity to tell anyone who'll listen how much you love the school.LaRetaguardia wrote:I registered for an official visit and sat in on a class through the admissions office website. When I showed up for my last campus visit, the Assistant Dean of Admissions was there and actually came around his desk to shake my hand and talk to me a bit. When I was on my way out for my classroom visit, he asked me to spell my last name again so he could make a note on my file that I visited.

Been waiting all cycle to be able to post here. Wait listed at Vandy, pretty set on going to SMU but Vandy could pull me away so I'll be riding it out.

Waitlisted so far at:
Northwestern
Georgetown
UCLA
Vandy
Still waiting to hear from one school...thought I was a strong candidate but it's taken so long I'm starting to get discouraged.
Received an email this week from Georgetown basically telling me not to hold my breath...Looks like I may be visiting Chicago and/or Nashville sometime this summer. Was never super excited about moving to Cali, so a waitlist from UCLA kinda takes them out of the running for me.

YP'ing has been the most aggravating aspect of the law school admission process. Withdrawing from all except Harvard. Will give them a chance to rectify their mistake.
Very happy to be enrolled at Columbia and heading to NYC.

This is honestly probably because I am a splitter. I have written letters to all and praying to God that one of them works out

Stanford
Columbia
Penn
UVA
Michigan
Northwestern (withdrew since I was admitted to U of Chicago)
Currently headed to Duke with a nice scholarship, so I don't think I'd go to any of those schools unless they on the slimmest of chances offered up a sweet fin aid package (with the exception of Stanford)

Out of curiosity, how many of you have heard from schools at which you're waitlisted? If you don't mind sharing, I'd be curious to hear which schools have sent out "waitlist updates" asking you to confirm your continued interest, or if anyone has actually received an offer of admission off a waitlist at this early stage.

Got an offer from Texas about a month ago, which I declined. Otherwise, it's been mostly silent, except for replies to LOCIs.capricasixx wrote:Out of curiosity, how many of you have heard from schools at which you're waitlisted? I'd be interested in knowing last year when folks got off their WLs. There didn't seem to be a thread like this, and looking through individual school threads from last year is tedious. Is there a compiled list or good reference point, that anyone's aware of, for the T14?

Have no idea what this summer is going to look like
WL'd at:
Harvard

NYU
Berkeley
Duke
Funny how I was once rejected by most of these and waitlisted at NU, GULC, Berkeley, UVA, Michigan, and Penn. Hang in there folks!

Re: Waitlist Oasis c/o 2019
UVA has already provided several informative updates about their cycle, asking applicants to respond if they're still interested. The numerous other waitlists I'm riding haven't said anything outside of confirming that I'm on the WLcapricasixx wrote:Out of curiosity, how many of you have heard from schools at which you're waitlisted?
