Just be careful with how you look at statistics. Only self-reported numbers are included; those who are making a pittance of a wage will likely not respond to the student surveys. Example, 20 people end up in the private sector and 2 report a salary. One reported salary is $120,000 and the other is $80,000. There you have an average reported salary of $100,000, even if the other 18 who didn't report are making less than $40,000.CPAlawHopefu wrote:Completed 12/18.
Got in today with $72k schooly.
Pretty sure no one cares about this school, but I personally think this school deserves a t50 spot. $101k private sector median salary is up there with some of the t30 schools.
So you mean ranking is an indicator to evaluate a school more reliable than private sector median salary? I know University of New Hampshire has a private sector median 105,000 but ranks 87. Should be as cautious as in the case of Rutgers?rwhyAn wrote:Just be careful with how you look at statistics. I go to school at Rutgers, and don't expect to be making 6 figures coming out. $40-50k is what most students should expect from their first job.
Yes, you should be just as cautious. Rankings really don't mean much when you get past the top 14-20 schools. A much better metric to go buy is full-time/long-term employment of recent grads 9 months out. You should really only go to Rutgers, UNH, or any other tier 2 if you want to practice in the area and can go for relatively cheap.yenisey wrote:So you mean ranking is an indicator to evaluate a school more reliable than private sector median salary?
