Hello all, I didn't see a status thread so I figured I would create one. I applied via ED, and my file went complete on 11/3.

My stats:
GPA:3.7 Updated
LSAT:153

Best of luck!

Anyone have boxes? Today I got an "admitted students requirements list" section, but still not under review.

Thanks! I plan on going up to visit in the coming months. I have pretty limited experience w/ West Texas in the first place, so I'd like to get more of a feel for LBK.

I got admitted almost 2 weeks ago, and received a very nice personalized note from Dean Perez w/my letter.

However, I didn't receive any scholarship information. I called their office and was told nothing was assigned to me at this time.

Any idea as to when I may receive word?

As a whole...I am very interested in Tech, but I still remain to be sold on it.

I feel like I received scholarship info sometime in January. It wasn't a terrible wait. Be warned that MANY students lose their scholarship at some point - they have a strict stipulation - so be financially prepared to only have it during your 1L year.

I got scholarship info the same day as my acceptance, then a packet with my hard copy letter via snail mail

Applied 01/04 complete 01/05 accepted 01/07

I had planned on applying prior to my December LSAT score coming out so I went ahead and sent it in, numbers pretty good above both medians. Really like tech, really like Dean Perez so had no problem sending in my app.

Good luck to all and hope all of you that are waiting get in!

How is the culture at the school? Are you overall happy with your decision to attend? How is job placement looking for you and your 3L counterparts?

The culture here is fine, probably better than most. I met my BFF and my SO here, if that means anything. We certainly don't have issues with people hiding library books or anything like that. Be prepared for some slight cliquishness (i.e. journal exec boards hanging out together a lot) and the occasional conservative viewpoint from a guest speaker. As with any law school, there is a strong undercurrent of gossip and plenty of law students dating/banging other law students. Think high school with more alcohol!

Attending Tech was a good long-term decision for me. However, I mainly say that because I met my SO and will be graduating debt-free thanks to family contributions. I also have modest goals - a $55k+ job in the Dallas area - which is actually doable from Tech. If I was coming out six-figures in debt, or had more ambitious career goals, I might feel differently. We have a VERY high rate of people losing their scholarships - even at the end of 2L year - so be prepared to have to reconsider your financial situation part way through if you come here.

I only know a few people who already have jobs/clerkships. However, they tended to be either super lucky or in the top 10-15% of the class. I do know there was a significant portion of the C/O 2015 who were able to get jobs within two-three months of passing the bar. If you have modest goals in Lubbock/El Paso/Amarillo/Dallas/Fort Worth, you'll be able to find something (probably in the $45-55k range) even if it's not until after getting your license. I'm currently trying for a post-bar internship at a DA's office in hope that will lead to a real job upon bar passage. Our career services can be helpful - at least if you need to write a resume or cover letter - but it's up to you to monitor Symplicity and be proactive in that respect.

Thank you for the response!

What is symplicity?

Symplicity is a website where career services can post job openings and arrange OCI interviews. It's used by (almost) all law schools and you'll be taught how to log-on and use it during 1L year.
