I'm feeling the same way. I was expecting to be rejected, but I'll take a waitlist which might get me admitted.money72592 wrote:Waitlisted-Emory was my reach school so I'm excited about it!

Joining the waitlist party!
Edit: Priority waitlist, because apparently there's a distinction between regular and priority waitlists?

I'm kind of curious what makes them waitlist some people versus accept others...I was fully expecting waitlist or rejection but I got accepted even though my LSAT isn't in range. Maybe softs play a bigger role than we think?

Hard to say. I thought I had pretty decent softs and other schools have commented positively on them. Maybe they really like high uGPAs? Mine is a little below median for them. I am actually surprised my GPA hasn't been more of a problem so far, I feel like I'm kind of a splitter, at least for schools with high GPA medians.AbbeyS wrote:I'm kind of curious what makes them waitlist some people versus accept others...I was fully expecting waitlist or rejection but I got accepted even though my LSAT isn't in range. ETA: I also applied in late February and slightly exceeded their personal statement length (well, technically I didn't but I used generous margins) so there's that.

"Priority" Waitlisted today. I'm chalking this one up to yield protection, and I respect them for it, since I no longer had any intention of attending. I should have withdrawn already, but god damnit I paid my money, and I wanted an answer!

I think softs and writing -- personal statements, optional essays, etc -- play a bigger part than people assume. I feel like if you can convince ONC person on the adcomm that you're worth a chance, then you did pretty well, right? Being an attorney is about writing well, and knowing how to make your points. Our law school applications are the biggest test of that.AbbeyS wrote:I'm kind of curious what makes them waitlist some people versus accept others...I was fully expecting waitlist or rejection but I got accepted even though my LSAT isn't in range. As a splitter, I think being a good writer can really make your application.

So who all has decided on Emory at this point? I keep looking for a "Class of 2019" thread for Emory in the other section. I think at this point - unless UGA decides to bump their scholarship offer to full - I'm pretty much 100% decided on Emory. Looking forward to starting this fall!
